Job Description

Terre des Hommes Netherlands prevents child exploitation, rescues children from exploitative situations and ensures that these children can continue their development in a safe environment. Terre des Hommes Netherlands in Asia focuses within the Child Exploitation Theme on Sexual Exploitation of Children, the Worst Forms of Child Labour, Child Trafficking and Migration, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and on Child Protection in Humanitarian Crisis. As part of its multi-year strategic plan (2016-2020) Terre des Hommes Netherlands plans to increase its support to comprehensive Programs addressing Child Exploitation in Asia.

In Asia, Terre des Hommes Netherlands works in Cambodia , Laos, Indonesia , Myanmar , the Philippines , Thailand , Bangladesh , India , Sri Lanka and Nepal. We support children who are victims of exploitation with education, psychosocial support, legal assistance, care, job opportunities and medical care. We launch public and media campaigns to create awareness on the problem and carry out local research into the extent and nature of abuse and exploitation.

Bangladesh Country Office of Terre des Hommes announces its vacancy for the position of Manager-Training, IMAGE Plus. IMAGE Plus, a project of Terre des Hommes Netherlands, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is focused on the rights and empowerment of Early Married Girls in the context of SRHR & Gender in Bangladesh. The project is being implemented in partnership with three development organisations and one media and communications organisation. Image Plus targets to empower 9000 early married girls in northern Bangladesh by providing access to knowledge and skills on SRHR, Maternal Child Health, Gender Based Violence, Education and Income Generating Activities (Livelihoods). The project targets and actors are early married girls, adolescents, husbands of the early married girls, in-laws, Civil Society Organisations, media and Government.

Objectives:

The main objective of this position is for the successful implementation of the project IMAGE Plus, complying with the policies and guidelines of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Government of Bangladesh and Terre des Hommes Netherlands.

General characteristics

To achieve to the goal, objectives and outcomes of the project IMAGE Plus, the Manager- Training will ensure capacity building of the staff members of partners, relevant stakeholders at local and national level, civil societies and the target population, efficient management and successful implementation of the project.

Location :

This is a national position for Bangladeshi nationals and will be based in Dhaka with frequent travel to the field in the northern districts of Bangladesh.

Position in the organisation:

The Manager-Training will be reportable to the Project Director IMAGE Plus.

Job Responsibilities.

Result areas

Result 1: Coordinate Organizational Policy

Organizational policy is coordinated in such a way that objectives have been achieved.

  • Ensure proper coordination and provide strategic guidance to IMAGE Plus partners in Capacity Building related planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
  • Provide training to TdH NL and IMAGE Plus project staff on thematic areas of SRHR, gender, education, gender based violence and livelihood.
  • Provide Capacity Building related budget planning and management support to IMAGE Plus Project Management Unit (PMU) and partners
  • Support the partners in recording and reporting on the Capacity Building initiatives as required by the donor, government and TdH Netherlands.

Result 2: Maintaining contacts

Relevant internal and external contacts have been maintained.

  • Represent the organisation in different workshop and seminars.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project partners to ensure the effective performance of the project Capacity Building activities

Result 3: Improve workflows

Work processes have been improved in such a way that the quality of service remains secure and employees are sustainably able to achieve the goals.

  • Provide overall technical leadership and management of capacity building objective of IMAGE Plus project and ensure sustainability of the results.
  • Develop strategy and ensure training and capacity building (both organizational & individual) plan and implementation at all level.
  • Conduct Training Need Assessment (TNA) and training design and conduct training plan for stakeholders.
  • Lead development of capacity building and training modules and materials
  • Organize and conduct training, workshop etc.
  • Document/monitor results and impact of training and capacity building activities
  • Plan and coordinate the budget relating to training & capacity building

Required Background ( Education, Knowledge and Experience)

Education: Masters in social science/development studies/public health or related discipline.

Knowledge & Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Capacity Building, training, and management of development projects including minimum 2 years direct work experience in SRHR and/or gender & women empowerment will be given preference.
  • Possession of a Training of Trainers certificate and skills in Participatory Planning and Management for Behavior Change would be an added advantage
  • Experience of policy and programme work and capacity building with proven capacity for analysis and synthesis
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate with sensitive and complicated issues with wide ranges of stakeholders
  • Proven leadership and negotiation quality with experience in multi-partners projects coordination.
  • Excellent report writing skills.

Additional experience in one or more of the following area’s is desirable:

  • Child Marriage, Child rights and Women Rights
  • SRHR including Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Reproductive Health
  • Gender and Development; and Gender Based Violence
  • Education and livelihood development for the women and the adolescents .
  • Conducting Training need assessment, developing modules on the related issues and providing training to the field staff.

Language Skills: Excellent proficiency in speaking and writing English is the most desirable.
