Terre des Hommes Netherlands, an international NGO, invites application from competent candidates for employment to the position of Head of Programme based at the country office, Dhaka.

Organisation:
Terre des Hommes Netherlands implements and supports project partners and projects for deprived children in Bangladesh. These project partners and projects are geared towards delivering effective, efficient and accountable services for children in need and contribute to the mission of the organisation, which is “to improve the quality of life of deprived children by ensuring their rights’. The Programme of Terre des Hommes Netherlands focuses mainly child rights with the aim to stop child exploitation, maternal and child health and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) but not limited to these areas.

Major responsibilities:

Reporting to the Country Director Bangladesh, the job holder will

  • contribute to develop strategic plan (organisational, regional and country specific) of organisation;
  • analyse and contribute in implementing programme and projects as per organisation’s strategic plan (organisational, regional and country specific);
  • provide guidance to programme staff and project partners for designing, developing, implementing and monitoring programme and projects for delivering effective and efficient services;
  • develop and design programme and projects in response to call for proposal within country, regionally and globally;
  • play vital role in raising funds from various International and UN/bilateral aid agencies, EU, USAID, UKAID, development aid funds from Government and Embassies of different countries.
  • build strong networking and working relationship with the Government, UN, the European Union, other (I)NGOs and private sector;
  • assure control and reporting mechanisms in line with the agreed upon frameworks and meet the strict criteria and deadlines;
  • supervise and provide guidance to the staff under his/her line management and arrange their professional development;
  • assess relevant management information with regard to performance of project partners and their results achieved in specific sector/thematic areas, and putting together overviews and reports.

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Master’s in Social Science or Development Studies or relevant development field.
  • Minimum seven years’ work experience preferably with international NGOs in a leadership programme position; experience of fundraising from both local and international agencies.
  • Knowledge and skills on project cycle management, proposal writing, monitoring & evaluation.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically and beyond the country programme context and to act within regional & global framework; Social skills for managing relationships with project partners and guide in implementing the programme and projects; Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with staff, project partners and other stakeholders; Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken; Skill on MS Word, Excel and Power point.
  • Able to cooperate, persuasive, good net worker and possess cross cultural awareness; Able to gather information on developments in the country, entrepreneurial and result driven.
  • Willing to travel within and outside the country.

Salary level: Negotiable for deserving candidate.
