(It is a temporary maternity leave cover which will only last 6 months)

Main responsibilities


1. 

Design, develop and evaluate actions in the field of child protection

2. 

Monitor, coordinate programmes in the field of child protection

3. 

Provide technical support to the child protection team members, as required

4. 

Develop and launch programmes in collaboration with governmental and local agencies

Networking, collaboration and coordination with Child protectionauthorities and stakeholders

6.

Mainstream child protection in emergencies

7.

Research and identify future project opportunities in-line with TDH’s strategy on child labour and migration


Duties


Design, develop and evaluate actions in the field of child protection

  • Conduct/support assessment/survey/research and analysis of prevailing context of child protection in country to serve Tdh’s strategic plan and ensuring that recommendations arising from assessments are implemented
  • Coordinate and engage in teamwork with National Coordinators in other technical areas to develop an integrated multi-sectoral approach for Tdh’s intervention
  • Ensure implementation of best practices in child protection with a focus on child labour, child exploitation, migration and juvenile justice.
  • Drawing up new proposals for intervention in child protectionprogramme areas for submission to funding bodies in collaboration with field and national level team members
  • Identifying challenges and proposing research projects and innovative approaches in the field of child protection

Monitor, coordinate programmes in the field of child protection

  • In collaboration with the MEAL department, identify the needs and design assessment/surveys as required
  • Monitor programme quality by using qualitative and quantitative reports submitted by the team
  • Conduct regular field visit to monitor and improve, if needed, the intervention quality
  • When possible, appropriate and relevant, promote an integrated approach in the programmes to ensure a sound understanding of the causes of violence against children in an area
  • Produce activity reports for funding bodies on child protection aspects of the programmes

Provide technical support to the child protection team members, as required

  • In collaboration with Field Coordinator(s), plan and delegate work as well as individual action plans for the protection team
  • Provide regular technical support to teams in the area of protection
  • Identifying the training needs among the team members and leading training sessions for the team according to their needs
  • As a technical expert on the field of protection, provide necessary technical support to other technical departments on integration, advocacy aimed at improving the quality of the intervention in general
  • Liaison with the Field Coordinator(s) to deal with any problems among the team members on ground

Develop and launch programmes in collaboration with governmental and local agencies

  • Negotiation with government authorities/partners on work organisation, protocols, action plans, training at all levels (local, and national)
  • Negotiation of agreement in terms of implementation of national protocols with the government authorities/partners
  • Coordinating the implementation of programmes with representatives of national and local government authorities
  • Analyze training needs and arranging training for the teams of programme partners
  • Lending technical support to the development of national and local strategy in the field of child protection
  • Building & leading a long term strategy for the programme as well as contribute to the development of country strategy for technical issues

Networking, collaboration and coordination with Child protection authorities and stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain relations & collaboration with current and potential donors, authorities and with other actors involved in protection sectors, both at national and local levels (visits projects, presentations of Tdh and its work, requests for funding) 
  • Represent Tdh in different national forums (including but not restricted to the child protection cluster), present and advocate in favour of Tdh standards and practices based on its experience and strengths
  • Elaborate communication tools for disseminating information related to Tdh’sprotection related activities and its other programmes in different forums and with various stakeholders
  • Produce technical, strategic and activity reports in the fields of protection (for partners/stakeholders)
  • Produce and/or publish information, both internally and externally, concerning technical progress in the fields of protection in the area of intervention

Mainstream child protection in emergencies

  • Work with the MEAL department, government, child protection cluster and other stakeholders to undertake joint need assessments in the area of protection during any emergency
  • Work with the MEAL department and child protection cluster members to conduct joint advocacy on need assessments, contingency plans for emergency preparedness
  • Together with the team members, identify specific child protection related messages and promote community awareness in disaster-prone areas

 

Qualifications & Competencies:

  1. Masters in Sociology, Arts, Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent
  2. Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a similar positions related child protection or child rights development, planning and management
  3. At least 3 years of professional experience in coordination role
  4. Experience in emergencies will be considered as a plus
  5. Fluency in English, both in writing and speaking, is a must
  6. Experience working in projects related to tackling child labour and children affected by migration
  7. Prior experience of partnering with private sectors actors like national and multinational companies and civil society actors desirable
