Title: Compliance Lead - Finance

Location: Bangladesh

Exp Required:

  • 3 - 4 years’ experience relevant to financial compliance, external audit, internal audit and accounting

Education Qualification: ACCA / ACA

ROLE PURPOSE

  • Ensure country consistently apply and comply with group financial compliance policies, frameworks and procedures and that the local policies and ways of working are aligned with them. The continuous monitoring and testing of controls, feedback and training to control performers, effective management information and overall result orientation will be the critical elements of this assurance role.
  • Continually monitor emerging internal control risks and if existing controls and processes do not mitigate such risks, should propose and ensure application of effective controls for risk mitigation and regularly monitor and test operating effectiveness of controls
  • Monitor and report to appropriate Syngenta management any violation and risk of any deviation from  financial compliance standards and practices in particular Syngenta internal control frameworks and segregation of duty risk management frameworks
  • Effectively assist and partner Country Finance Operations Lead in the overall management of financial compliance program and drive related initiatives and control remediation measures
  • Build financial compliance sustainability with continual education, awareness and training and feedback to relevant teams including periodic updates to country senior leaders and financial compliance committee/ FLT
  • Liaise with internal auditors including but not limited to financial also operational audits.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure that all functions in the country achieve full financial compliance, including;
    • implementation and effectiveness of the financial internal control framework (ICF), covering both key controls and mandatory secondary controls
    • resolution of all critical risk segregation of duties conflicts, and resolution or mitigation of all high risk segregation of duties conflicts
    • Implementation and effective operation of the key pillars of finance governance (e.g lock meeting, FLT etc.)
    • Operation of group standard processes, with justification of any exceptions.
  • Coordinate and responsible for compliance (controls over financial reporting) – including implementation, assessment (walkthrough), testing, and remediation for deficiencies to ensure ongoing compliance and appropriate actions around deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with Territory Financial Compliance to complete all required compliance assurance, reporting and other requirements.
  • Support Finance Operation Lead to ensure finance processes / activities follow local and group financial standards by performing selective process walkthrough and identify and report practices which are not in compliance with  standards (GSM)
  • Active engagement with segregation of duty (SoD) risk management and its sustainable functioning to ensure that local ways of working around granting of user access rights are aligned with global GRC workflows for user provisioning, standard role request approval including SoD risk assessment and as necessary application of mitigating controls and role change management.
  • Active engagement with key change projects to ensure that financial compliance standards are maintained as part of the project, and on implementation
  • Support Finance Operations Lead in ensuring that Delegation of Authority schedule is updated and applied.  Authorization matrix in SAP is properly updated. 
  • Collaborate and drive new initiatives for improvement of internal controls
  • Coordinate with relevant action owners and functional heads regarding timely implementation of recommendations agreed with Group Internal Audit and provide periodic updates to local compliance committees including highlighting potential delays or any implementation issues for management action.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with action owner of internal audit recommendation for end to end control effectiveness and ensure local remediation action.
  • Involvement in key process governance, risk management & compliance decisions / workflows, eg. GRC, process change requests.
  • Supporting the financial compliance governance body in local and territory.
