Study on Farming systems and Livelihoods among the Farmers of Dinajpur and Rangpur


Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) is a Swiss-based non-profit international development organization having its vision “bright future for smallholder farming” works in Asia and Africa. To strengthen smallholder farming and food systems, SFSA catalyzes market development and delivery of innovations, while building capacity across the public and private sectors. SFSA scales the adoption of improved technologies, services and business models. It also promotes the development and use of tools and practices for climate-smart resilient agriculture and food security. SFSA works operationally and in thought leadership with a wide range of local, regional and international partners. These include governments, public institutions, private sector, international organizations, think tanks, other foundations, social entrepreneurs and NGOs. ‘SFSA Bangladesh’ is the full-fledged country office of SFSA in Bangladesh since 2011 and responsible for implementation management of its country programs and mission in Bangladesh. Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) in a consortium of Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), the Sustainable Agroecosystem Group at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and Sight and Life (SAL) is managing a project of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) under SDC’s Global Programme for Food Security, with the overall goal to contribute to:

Improved nutrition among consumers, including the most vulnerable ones, living in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. It aims to do so by testing and scaling innovative approaches in order to address food governance and the demand and supply side for enhancing access to local, safe, nutritious, diverse and affordable food and changing behaviors of consumers and producers.
