Summit Corporation Limited (SCL) invites suitable candidates for the following position:

Title of the Position: Corporate Legal Counsel

Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure Company’s full legal rights and provide legal advice to the management on issues affecting the Company and all its subsidiaries.
• Research and evaluate different risk factors of various contracts and decisions and apply effective risk management techniques through solid legal opinions.
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.) and create a win-win scenario by creating relations of trust and respect.
• Assist in specifying and updating Internal Governance Policies (e.g. Code of Conduct or Confidentiality Agreement, etc) and assist management in ensuring compliance thereof.
• Deal with necessary inter-company legal work and advice the HR Department on all people related legal issues

Job Specification: 

• A minimum of 5 years of practicing experience in Corporate Law after enrolment with the relevant Bar Council of Bangladesh.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant Corporate Laws, Rules, Regulations and Procedures with clear comprehension of the influences of these laws on the external and internal environment of a corporation.
• Proven experience as a legal counsel in reputed Corporate Business Environment with demonstrated track record of high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Sound judgment and critical analyzing skills leading to a capability to analyzing business cases to create proactive legal strategies and legal defenses.
• Outstanding business communication and negation skills and a strong team playing skill with capability to demonstrate circle of influence over the stakeholders.

Duty Station: Primarily at Head Office, Dhaka

Salary: Negotiable

Eligibility Criteria: 

• LLM /Post Graduate Diploma in Law from a reputed University of Bangladesh/abroad Requirements
• Barrister at Law from the UK is preferred.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with diverse group of people and proven capacity to produce quality reports, opinions and write-ups
• Have understanding on all local laws
