Head of Finance, Rohingya Response

The Role:
The Finance team of Rohingya Response (RR) program provides a broad range of comprehensive financial services to the 800+ staff at the site in Cox’s Bazaar. Head of Finance with a direct report to Team Leader will be responsible for delivering an efficient and effective financial management function of this response. The role is a key contact point between Cox’s Bazar response team, Country Office, Regional Office and Centre.

As a member of the Senior Management Team of RR program, the position will lead and manage the overall financial system and functions of this large complex emergency response. S/he will ensure best practices and financial management systems across the Rohingya Response program are in place; maintain and update the Master Budget of this program and provide a fortnightly update on the budget variance analysis. The incumbent will also contribute to the capacity building of both finance team and other relevant staff members including budget holders to ensure high quality delivery.

The role offers a leadership opportunity for a highly experienced individual in managing financial functions of a multi thematic program as well as lead and participate in the development of financial policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include budget monitoring; on time submission of financial reports to members, donors and government regulatory agencies and exercise judgement in making new proposals to increase the Finance efficiency in CXB.

This person is also expected to play a vital role to develop an organisational culture that reflects Save the Children’s full spectrum values, promotes accountability and high performance and encourages a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation to deliver outstanding results for children and excellent customer service for our Members and donors. The role includes line management responsibility and considering the humanitarian nature of the program will be expected to work beyond the normal role profile.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 10 years demonstrated experience in multi-functional areas of finance on which minimum 5 years in a senior management position; management level experience in non-government development sector will get preference
  • Hands on experience of managing large grants and overseeing international and local subcontractors and grantees.
  • S/he is also expected to have proven expertise in all aspects of financial management, demonstrated ability to function effectively with multiple partners and counterparts.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing and supervising a diverse team; ability to work in a challenging environment, maintain a positive team dynamic with excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skill
  • Experience of working in humanitarian response program and familiarity with ERP system will add value
  • Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken ability in English and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are other pre-requisites
  • Masters/ MBA in Finance/ Accounting or equivalent from reputed University. Professional degree in accounting will add value

Contract length: 18 months with possibility of extension
