The role
The Hygiene Promotion (HP) Officer is responsible to coordinate SCI sectors and other government and non-government stakeholders to identify the need and gap on hygiene promotion on SCI working camps and health center, CFS, GFS and TLC. The position holder is responsible to develop the hygiene promotion plan at both community and institution among children and ensure delivery of the hygiene session. The responsibility also includes relevant hygiene product distribution, and capacity enhancement of the hygiene promotion volunteer and community mobilizer, TLC/CFS facilitator. S/he will work together with field supervisor, community mobilizer, other sector focal point at field to ensure the timely dissemination of the hygiene promotion session and monitoring the improved behavior of the beneficiaries. The position holder is responsible to ensure the active participation of beneficiaries and change agent in planning, implementing and monitoring of the activities to safeguard and improve the public health of the affected population by promoting safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services; and ensuring the involvement of beneficiaries in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience Humanitarian programming, previous experience in Save the Children is an added advantage;
  • Strong background in health and hygiene and Strong familiarity and substantial experience in promoting health and hygiene messages and good practices at the community level and institution level;
  • Practical experience in public health promotion is required. In particular, experience and understanding of community mobilization in relation to water and sanitation activities and approaches e.g. PHAST, CLTS, CHAST and skills in the use of appropriate tools for dissemination of key hygiene message;
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in order to establish effective relationships with a wide range of audiences; skill on Rohingya language an added advantage;
  • Willing to do field work in areas assigned;
  • Good planning skills;
  • Experience of working in NGO sector; preferred on humanitarian context;
  • Perfect knowledge of local language;
  • Community mobilization skills;
  • Good knowledge on public health issues and promotion of hygiene.

Contract length: 06 months with possibility of extension depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
