Manager - Risk & Compliance (1), Rohingya Response

The role:
Currently there are 800+ staffs at the site in Cox’s Bazaar working for the Rohingya Response Program of Save the Children. The overall role of Manager- Risk & Compliance is to lead and manage the compliance related matters at the site for effective functioning of internal control system of this large response program. The position will be directly report to Country Office Director Risk and Compliance with a dotted line to Team Leader-RR and has line management responsibility.

Principally the position will be responsible for ensuring that entire operation of RR program both SCI and partners end are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations of local government, donors and management directives. This position also demands reviewing economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the operation within functional cycle of the response program. S/he will be also expected to support/guide the operations people and be persuasive to resolve the lapse to ensure compliance as well as attain the objectives of the organizations. Other responsibilities include execute internal audits to identify the drawback / limitation of existing system, generate report and submit that to management with suggested changes. Conduct investigation, provide fact-finding report with good analytics of cause and effect and provide strategic view for actions are another vital responsibility of this role.

The role also includes the responsibility of capacity building of the staff, partners and stakeholders on good governance system, internal control system, Fraud and AML/CFT mechanism etc. Considering the emergency nature of this program the position expects to work outside the normal role profile.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 5 years’ relevant working experience (e.g. audit, investigation, internal control, accounting, financial analysis, information system) along with 3 years’ managerial experience, experience in I/NGOs is preferred.
  • S/he is expected to have sound knowledge on accounting components and its interlinkages, thorough knowledge on accounting practices in development organization, good knowledge on NGOAB, different donor’s compliance VAT/TAX and statutory rules and regulations.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong audit ethics & professionalism along with sound analytical skill
    S/he is expected to have sound skills in handling and advising on complex compliance issues as well as conducting investigation and risk assessment
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment, maintain a positive team dynamic, excellent interpersonal communication skill both in English and Bengali and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are other pre-requisites
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Commerce, relevant additional professional qualifications will be an advantage.

Contract length: 12 months with possibility of extension
