Senior Manager - Human Resources (Deputy Head of HR), Rohingya Response

The role:

The HR team of Rohingya Response program provide a broad range of HR services to the 800+ staff at the site in Cox’s Bazaar. Senior Manager – HR with a direct report to Head of HR and Admin, will oversee this team on different facets of HR. The role holder will function as the Deputy Head of HR and will be mainly responsible for ensuring quality implementation of all HR functions under this response. 

The incumbent will be expected to have an advisory role on day-to-day HR operations as it transitions to the next phase of the response; will lead international recruitment, develop robust systems, policy and practice on people management in complex emergencies. Senior Manager – HR will lead the talent development programme as well as capacity building of existing Rohingya Response programme staff.

The post-holder will be also expected to support the Head of HR in HR strategic direction with the analysis of HR needs, monitor and review the impact and effectiveness of HR management interventions and to ensure Save the Children good practice is in place. The role includes line management responsibility and will be expected to work outside the normal role profile.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 7 years demonstrated experience in multi-functional areas of HR, particularly in recruitment, staff relations and performance management on which minimum 3 years in a senior management level position
  • Hands on experience in the development and implementation of strategic and operational HR plans through a number of planning cycles.
  • Prior NGO experience at management level within a complex country programme in emergency response/humanitarian environments will get preference
  • Proven operational HR track-record – experience of providing a senior generalist HR service to managers across a full range of HR issues
  • S/he is expected to have sound skills in handling and advising on complex people management issues as well as recruitment and selection
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment, maintain a positive team dynamic, excellent interpersonal-skills/ ability to manage multicultural teams
  • Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken ability in English and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) are other pre-requisites
  • Masters/ MBA in Human Resources Management or equivalent from reputed University

Contract length: 12 months with possibility of extension
