Senior Operations Manager (1), Rohingya Response

The role:
The Senior Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation of Save the Children’s seven (7) sectors programing in Rohingya Response, including field delivery of high quality programming in line with the objectives of the response strategy and donor requirements. S/ he will also responsible for ensuring program coherence and integrated service delivery on the field.

The position will work closely with Sector Program Leads and be responsible for the quality management of interventions under multiple awards. S/he will also responsible to ensure all projects have accurate Detail Implementation Plans (DIPs) as well as budgets and budgets are managing through rigorous monitoring. Other responsibilities include ensure preparatory activities take place before funding comes through for quick start up; regular communication and coordination with support services (logistics, Admin, HR and Finance) and PDQ team to ensure operations needs and challenges are timely addressed; provide necessary support to ensure on time submission of quality donor reports. Identify ways to improve back end delivery of support services in terms of timeliness, quality and support to program operations is another vital responsibility of this position.

As a member of extended senior management team s/he will be expected to assist design and implement a coherent organizational structure; establish, maintain, and increase active and regular working relationships with local government authorities, partner agencies, humanitarian and development donors and local and international NGOs in the aim of ensuring program operations smoothly. The role will also support implementation and revision of the key strategic directions and ensure the integration of the interventions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in development sector including direct responsibilities for program implementation, preferably with solid experience across different sectors
  • S/he is expected to have proven track record of multi-award management in an emergency context and ability to identify the main gaps in the current context to ensure holistic response for children.
  • Hands-on experience of management of complex structures and team compositions including high turnover of staff, recruitment
  • Experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.
  • Ability to positively influence cross departmental and cross sector working and problem solving
  • Ability to work under pressure, be flexible in challenging situation, excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skill along with high level of written and spoken English are also required.
  • Master Degree, preferably in any subject relevant to Social Science. Considering quality experience education may relax.

Contract length: 12 months with possibilities of extension
