Senior Officer Advocacy, Urban Resilience Project

The role
The Senior Officer-Advocacy will have the overall responsibility for advocating the urban resilience issues. In this capacity, s/he will directly contribute in planning, implementation, and monitoring of the advocacy related tasks of the project and also support fellow Save the Children staff and coordinators of partner NGOs for successful advocacy. S/he needs to work with children, women, communities and partners to identify and prioritize the advocacy issues and develop tools and approaches of advocacy for the project. S/he needs to build strong networking and liaison with like-minded agencies, utilize this network as the platform for effective advocacy, coordinate regularly with local government agencies, and support them for implementation of policies and procedures. The incumbent will be accountable and responsible for developing appropriate messages for urban risk reduction/resilience. 

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 4 years’ working experience, preferably in the areas of advocacy or similar activities, especially in risk reduction in urban context
  • Experience on child sensitive city, safe school initiatives and community based disaster preparedness programme
  • Strong partnership management skills
  • Knowledge about child rights programming
  • Excellent written communications including report writing
  • Knowledge about national and international drivers on disaster risk reduction and development
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Social Sciences/ Economics/Disaster Management, Development Studies or relevant discipline
