The role
The WASH Engineering Officer is expected to lead the assessment, plan and implement construction activities related to WASH on the health posts, hospitals, CFS, GFS and TLC constructed and supported by SCI. S/he is responsible to maintain, operate and manage the WASH facilities at SCI supported institutions which include design, estimate and implement the construction and maintenance activities. The position holder need to work closely with SCI’s health, child protection and Education team on planning and implementation the activities in integrated manner. In addition, the position holder is responsible to establish and maintain the working relationship with relevant stakeholders at field. S/he is responsible for train/orient the health, CP and education field team on minimum WASH requirement and standards. The position holder is responsible for regular supervision and monitoring the activities, follow up and evaluation of WASH infrastructure construction, rehabilitation, maintenance of WASH facilities to ensure the quality, safeguarding and safety.

Qualifications and experience

  • Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in Civil Engineer, Water Science Engineering, or a related Engineering subject; Preferred Master’s on similar background
  • Professional experience of 3 years minimum, including 2 years in the field of WASH infrastructure construction in humanitari-an or development context.
  • Experience in Hygiene Promotion programing.
  • Organization, coordination and planning skills.
  • Good skills on MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other relevant program.
  • Ability to listen and adapt
  • Good knowledge of local language
  • Perfect knowledge of oral and written English
  • Experience with working with subcontractors
  • Direct experience in the geographical area of intervention of save the children

Contract length:   03 months, possibility of extension depending on availability of funding and performance
