The role
Hygiene Promotion Officer-institution is an excellent opportunity to coordinate SCI sectors and other government and non-government stakeholders to identify the need and gap on hygiene promotion at SCI’s health center, CFS, GFS and TLC. S/he is primarily responsible to develop the child sensitive/friendly hygiene promotion module, plan and deliver the hygiene promotion session and activities including distribution to the targeted beneficiaries. S/he need to work together with field supervisor, community mobilizer to ensure the timely dissemination of the hygiene promotion session and monitoring the improved behavior of the beneficiaries. The position holder is responsible to ensure the active participation of beneficiaries and change agent in planning, implementing and monitoring of the activities. Hygiene Promoter Program Officer also part of WASH intervention, to safeguard and improve the public health of the affected population by promoting safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services; and ensuring involvement of children and other beneficiaries in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor in public health, social science, environmental health, Nursing or related subjects
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience Humanitarian programming, previous experience in Save the Children an added advantage.
  • Strong background in health and hygiene and Strong familiarity and substantial experience in promoting health and hygiene messages and good practices at the community level and institution level;
  • Practical experience in public health promotion is required. In particular, experience and understanding of community mobilization in relation to water and sanitation activities and approaches e.g. PHAST, CLTS, CHAST and skills in the use of appropriate tools for dissemination of key hygiene message
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in order to establish effective relationships with a wide range of audiences ; skill on Rohingya language an added advantage
  • Willing to do field work in areas assigned
  • Good planning skills.
  • Experience of working in NGO sector ; preferred on humanitarian context
  • Perfect knowledge of local language
  • Community mobilization skills
  • Good Knowledge on public health issues and hygiène promotion

Contract length:   03 months, possibility of extension depending on availability of funding and performance
