Project Manager Proyash Phase II Project

The role

The Project Manager-Proyash Phase II Project will have the responsibility for managing and guiding the C&A Funded Urban Resilience Project titled as Proyash. In this capacity, s/he will directly contribute in planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities and also support fellow Save the Children staff and coordinators of partner NGOs for successful implementation of activities. S/he should have the capacity to keep continuous communication with implementing and strategic partners. S/he needs to work with government stakeholders and other concerned authorities in urban locations of Dhaka, Savar and Chattogram to identify the gaps and take steps to increase the capacity of those stakeholders to address those gaps. As the project focuses on advocacy at national level to increase urban resilience capacities at community and schools, especially targeting the women and children’s vulnerabilities, as such the Manager needs to have appropriate knowledge and skills to lead the implementation, knowledge management and accountable and responsible for developing appropriate messages for DRR/resilience. S/he will manage the overall project budget and compile progress reports for donor. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 6 years’ experience of working in the areas of, disaster risk reduction, with at least 3 years in managerial position.
  • Sufficient knowledge on national and international DRR and development dynamics,
  • Excellent Financial/budget management with the expertise on staff management/supervision
  • Experience in managing urban DRR projects and also expected to have experience on working in policy advocacy.
  • Excellent training facilitation skills and able to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Excellent English and Bengali spoken and written skills.
  • Master Degree, preferably in any subject of Social Science/ Environmental Science / Disaster Risk Management / Development Studies or related discipline.
  • Certified course on DRR will be an added advantage.
