FOOD SECURITY & LIVELIHOOD (FSL) SUPERVISOR
SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is an international humanitarian organization based in Paris, France, which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 35 years, the organization’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world. Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Food Security & Livelihood (FSL) Supervisor
Affectation: Teknaf, Bangladesh
Possible Start of the activities: October 30, 2018
Number of positions: 01
Duration of the contract: up to June 30, 2019 (with possibility of extension), Based on the implementation of new ISR, duration and terms of conditions of the position may change.
Responsibilities and description of tasks:
To provide support to implementation of the FSL activates of SI in Teknaf Upazila. He/she will provide technical support for planning, monitoring of the overall implementation process of the project activities.
His/ her main responsibilities in below:
Main Project Activity:
- Plan the weekly activities for his/her team according to the project’s objectives & timeframe and have them approved by his/her Line Manager:
- Propose a technical approach, financial layout and logistics for the activities that are to be implemented:
- Participate for the Demonstration plot identification and preparation with possible risk management
- Create appropriate technical guidelines for Home & Sack Agriculture, set up demonstration plots etc.
- Support the Program Manager in defining initial assessment.
- In collaboration with MEAL, conduct & supervise assessment, data entry and analysis.
- Participate in beneficiaries’ identification and ensure that BNF’s are selected according to relevant criteria, defined with the communities and the Program Manager.
- Participate actively in the design of Demonstration Plot establishment, Small Scale Gardening with Drip Irrigation system & Sack Gardening activities and the identification of suitable implementation methods.
- Technical support to the line manager on FSL related issues in order to ensure a comprehensive and relevant intervention.
- Ensure the methodologies and project’s objectives are well understood by the FSL officers & implemented on the field and propose adequate change where needed.
- By supervising & monitoring each stage of activity, ensuring that the schedules & deadlines agreed upon with the line manager are respected.
- In collaboration with the Govt. & other actors, identify beneficiaries’ trainings’ needs & identify proper training resources available in Teknaf and prepare appropriate tools to conduct trainings at village/community level.
- Participate in the procurement request, follow up the purchases and ensure quality control of FSL in kind support & prepare schedule for smooth distribution.
- Participate in development of SI internal strategy for FSL sector
- Develop regular follow up tools & ensure the efficiency & progress of project
HR Management
- Support the Line Manager in solving problems between team members, or between teams and partners, communities and beneficiaries
- Conduct the performance reviews of the staff s/he supervises directly
- Act as the liaison in the field between the various actors
- Plan human resources, material and financial resources with the program manager according to the set schedule
Logistics and Administration
- Train his/her team members to use and maintain the available tools Correctly-Vehicle Request, Advance Management etc.
- Track usage with monitoring tools provided
- Ensure compliance of security rules by the staff under his/her supervision
- Ensure that safety procedures are followed by members of his/her team
- Monitor the quality and quantity of material delivered to working sites
- Ensure the receipt and storage of material and equipment necessary for his/her work to be carried out on site
Reporting / communication
- Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to his/her Line Manager and MEAL Team
- Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her project manager
- Make case study, success stories & lesson learning reports
- Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack
- Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her Line Manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams.
- Develop SI defined CRM activities among the team & make familiar for the community.
- Facilitate communication between Solidarités International and communities, authorities, beneficiaries and other parties in the area
- Present to the population and local authorities the nature of field operations
- Remain in touch with the population and local authorities to understand needs, complaints, and major events that may have an impact on the activities of Solidarités International.

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor degree in relevant subject.
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in humanitarian and/or development programs and in the relevant field.
- Experience in team management.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency on local language can be an added value
Salary Range: Monthly consolidated salary BDT 51,300/- and other benefits as per HR policy of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
