Protection Hotline Supervisor

Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Protection Hotline Supervisor
Affectation: Teknaf, Bangladesh

Duration of the contract: up to December 31, 2018 (with possibility of extension)

Responsibilities and description of tasks:

The Protection Program Supervisor Hotline (PPSH) will coordinate a team of Protection Hotline officers, in order to ensure the smooth running of the Protection Hotline, seeing that that Solidarités International technical guidance and procedures are followed. The PPSH will be in charge of the implementation and monitoring of the Hotline. Please note that the position holder will on occasion be required to work outside of normal office hours including evenings (until 11pm) and weekends.

His/ her main responsibilities in below:

Setting up the activities /control and supervision

  • Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by his/her Activity Manager:
  • Plan human resources needs (daily workers, workers, volunteers...)
  • Plan tool and material needs (request from stock)
  • Anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)
  • Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means...)
  • Organize and carry out, with his/her team, tasks assigned by his/her Activity Manager
  • Supervise and monitor each stage of activity. Ensure that standards and instructions given by his/her Program Manager, as well as Solidarités procedures, are followed
  • Mentor closely Protection Hotline Officers in the identification, referral and follow-up of protection cases to ensure safe and ethical referrals and respect of standards and guidelines.
  • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions

Training and capacity-building:

  • Support the PAM in training Protection Hotline Officers on protection and related topics (SGBV, CP, etc.)
  • Inform the PAM about gaps and needs in terms of capacity-building and training and provide suggestions to improve the running of the Hotline.

Logistics and Administration

  • Direct HR management of the officers supervised and continuous mentoring
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed by members of his/her team

Reporting / communication

  • Take part in weekly program meetings and clusters on request
  • Work closely with the Information Management teams (Protection and MEAL) to ensure effective and regular reporting of the activities and management of protection cases recorded.
  • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to his/her Activity manager
  • Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her Activity manager
  • Establish and maintain good relations with local authorities, stakeholders and communities (populations) in the operational fields to ensure appropriate and timely referrals are made.
  • Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her project manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams.

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Master’s in Social Science/development studies/relevant field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in humanitarian and/or development programs and in the relevant field
  • Excellent skills in Chittagonian language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural tolerance;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment;
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office can be added value
  • Knowledge on local context

Salary Range: Monthly consolidated salary BDT 51,300/- and other benefits as per HR policy of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
