PROTECTION SUPERVISOR


SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is an international humanitarian organization based in Paris, France, which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 35 years, the organization’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world. Our programs mainly focus on emergency relief actions related to water and sanitation but also related to food security as well as shelter and infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction.

PROTECTION SUPERVISOR
Affectation: Teknaf, Bangladesh
Possible Start of the activities: July 20, 2018
Number of positions: 01
Duration of the contract: up to December 31, 2018 (with possibility of extension), Based on the implementation of new ISR, duration and terms of conditions of the position may change.

Responsibilities and description of tasks:

The Protection Program Supervisor (PPS) will coordinate a team of Protection officers and community-based volunteers, in order to set up the Protection activities, ensuring that Solidarités International technical guidance and procedures are followed. The PPS will be in charge of the implementation and monitoring of projects in her/his area in Teknaf Upazila.

His/ her main responsibilities in below:

Setting up the activities /control and supervision

  • Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by his/her Activity Manager:
  • Plan human resources needs (daily workers, workers, volunteers...)
  • Plan tool and material needs (request from stock)
  • Anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)
  • Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means...)
  • Organize and carry out, with his/her team, tasks assigned by his/her Activity Manager
  • Supervise and monitor each stage of activity. Ensure that standards and instructions given by his/her Program Manager, as well as Solidarités procedures, are followed
  • Mentor closely Protection Officers in the identification, referral and follow-up of protection cases to ensure safe and ethical referrals and respect of standards and guidelines.
  • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions

Training and capacity-building:

  • Support the PAM in training protection officers on protection and related topics (SGBV, CP, etc.)
  • Train community-based volunteers and provide continuous mentoring through follow-up meetings
  • Inform the PAM about gaps and needs in terms of capacity-building and training and provide suggestions to improve newly developed Protection activities

Logistics and Administration

  • Direct HR management of the officers supervised and continuous mentoring
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed by members of his/her team

Reporting / communication

  • Take part in weekly program meetings and clusters on request
  • Work closely with the Information Management teams (Protection and MEAL) to ensure effective and regular reporting of the activities and management of protection cases recorded.
  • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to his/her Activity   manager
  • Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her Activity manager
  • Establish and maintain good relations with local participants and communities (populations) in the operational fields. Maintain continuous communication with community-based volunteers
  • Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her project manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams

Qualifications and Competencies: 

  • Master’s in Social Science/development studies/relevant field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years professional experience in humanitarian and/or development programs and in the relevant field
  • Excellent skills in Chittagonian language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural tolerance;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment;
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office can be added value
  • Knowledge on local context

Salary Range: Monthly consolidated salary BDT 51,300/- and other benefits as per HR policy of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
