Job Profile: Senior Manager- Resource Mobilisation and Advocacy

Introduction

Solidaridad Network Asia is a global network organization working on sustainable, resources-efficient and inclusive supply chains. Solidaridad is working across 37 countries through 9 Regional Excellence Centre’s, and facilitating development of socially responsible, ecologically sound, and profitable supply chains. In Bangladesh, Solidaridad has been implementing landscape based agricultural development programming for making tangible impact on agricultural productivity and promotion of agri-business covering 102,000 smallholder farm households.

Through a multi-stakeholder initiative, Solidaridad is promoting climate smart and nutrition sensitive farming practices to bring positive outcomes for smallholders in term of productivity and income, quality of nutritious food intake as well as environmental benefits. Our work focuses on a broader landscape framework development for strengthening strong business relations among the cluster of producer organizations with the public, private and civil society organizations to strengthen agribusiness, food security and promotion of sustainable economics.  

Overall Job Description

The Senior Manager- Resource Mobilisation and Advocacy is an integral member of Solidaridad Network Asia in Bangladesh to better position and profile Solidaridad work. The position leads to resource mobilisation and contributes to various projects across the organization including representation and coordination in different stakeholders’ platform. S/he will undertake evidence based advocacy and communication work in line with the organisation’s strategic plan to influence local and national policy processes towards promoting a sustainable and inclusive economy that maximizes the benefit for all.

The position will work with the cutting edge of development policies and practices related to agri-business, finance and climate change for transformative changes in agricultural productivity and food system development. S/he will be responsible for resource mobilisation, policy communication, partnership/coalition building and will require strong interpersonal communication skills to plan, organise and implement the projected works as defined below. The position will be based in Dhaka, will report to the Country Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fund Raising Functions

  • Lead the development, preparation, submission, and correspondence related to grant proposals for corporate, institutional, government and foundation donors;
  • Support in identifying and coordinating resources mobilisation from donors, businesses, and government to support the policy, advocacy and programmatic agenda of Solidaridad.
  • Contribute to internal policy and strategy development, annual work plans, fundraising targets and donor reporting.
  • Assist Country Manager on other matters related to answering general correspondence and queries from partners and other stakeholders.
  • Support to develop programming to promote agri-business in Bangladesh. This will include adoption and adaptation of technologies, financial services, inputs supply chains, market linkages and policy issues related to government-enabled and private sector-led engagement to improve the performance agricultural programming of Solidaridad in Bangladesh.
  • Develop terms of reference and steer research in accordance with the Solidaridad programming and strategic plan.

Networking and Advocacy Functions

  • Lead aligning Solidaridad work with different national and international policy framework to positively impact on strategic priorities;
  • Develop and implement advocacy, policy and campaign activities with the support of relevant staff to help achieve the strategic goals of shaping the agenda to transform agricultural productivity, agri-business and food system development;
  • Policy and institutional linkages for achieving improved food security and boosting market outreach at domestic and export markets. This will include adaptation to climate change and environmental sustainability focusing policy instruments on use of natural resources (land and soil, water and ecosystems);
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with key government agencies, local authorities, policy makers, and relevant organisations and stakeholders at local and national levels;
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships in meeting the set results outcomes of Solidaridad.

Communication Functions

  • Manage a comprehensive and integrated communications strategy that meets the programmatic, administrative, and policy and advocacy objectives of Solidaridad;
  • Coordinate the development of all print materials for Solidaridad including brochures, flyers, quarterly e-newsletters, fact sheets, position papers, annual reports, and other written materials;
  • Assist the development of press releases, editorials, blog-postings, marketing materials and talking points for public relations opportunities;
  • Ensure all external written communication meets quality standards and maintains consistent messaging;
  • Organise events such as workshops, round tables and conferences in line with Solidaridad’s work plan to influence policies and practices;
  • Contribute to the production of promotional materials, articles, and reports for external and internal publication, including website.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • The ideal candidate will be a collaborative individual with leadership experience in dealing with the ambiguity and challenges associated with working in a dynamic and growing member organization;
  • A higher degree education in economics, development studies, policy, communication or relevant discipline;
  • 7 to 8 years’ proposal development experience leading teams with full knowledge of DFID, EU, USAID proposal developments;
  • Have succeeded in raising at least USD 5 million within the carrier span as the “lead” of the team;
  • Have good experience of setting up Private Public Partnership projects in Bangladesh;
  • International level expertise in writing in flawless and error free English language;
  • Demonstrated knowledge on Log Frames, Result Chains-particularly on Donor Committee for Enterprise Development;
  • Strong policy research skills with a track record of advocacy, communication and publications;
  • High networking skills and would be able to represent Solidaridad Bangladesh to businesses leaders, Embassy officials and other dignitaries;
  • Excellent communication skills both using power point or without it.

Employment Type: Project based fixed term

Salary & Other Benefits
Solidaridad offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. The take home salary for this position is BDT 24,00,000 – 27,00,000 annually depending on qualifications. Adding to that there will be other admissible benefit packages such as provident fund, one festival bonus, gratuities and medical insurance as per the organizational policy.
