Company Description

Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, the country office of Sesame Workshop, a not-for-profit educational organization, creates innovative and engaging content to help all children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. For 50 years, the Workshop has been a global pioneer in educating and entertaining children through multiple media. Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB) started its operations since 2003 and got registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Office of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in 2013. SWB produces the famous children television series `Sisimpur’ being broadcasted by multiple TV channels; develops variety of print materials including storybooks and play materials; and distributes them through government organizations and NGOs to the schools and communities to support development of children.   

Position Profile

Deputy Manager – Content and Creative Services is one of the mid-level positions in SW Bangladesh country office reportable to the Senior Manager – Content and Creative Services.  The regular employee of this position will be on maternity leave from December 2018 and SWB is looking for a suitable candidate for the interim period of around 8 months. The description below is indicative and will not be limited to the following-

Key Job Responsibility

The basic function of the Deputy Manager is to develop and review the contents of print materials including storybooks, charts, posters etc. and to review all types of illustrations and design of print materials for different events including Sisimpur fair, Live show etc.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

Print Materials Development

  • Lead the planning, budgeting and development of print materials including the storybooks, games, puzzles, floor mats, charts etc. following the Sisimpur curriculum
  • Prepare the detail plan of the storybooks development, storybooks development guidelines and follow the guideline in developing storybooks including reviewing and finalizing layout, design and illustrations of the storybooks
  • Prepare the plan of the development of play materials, including but not limited, to activity sheets, games, puzzles, floor mats, charts and other materials
  • Lead the contextualization of global contents for adapting in Bangladesh programs
  • Lead the design and illustration of the contextualized materials
  • Prepare and share a materials distribution plan for training, schools and community sessions
  • Prepare the specifications all materials prior to printing
  • Ensure all outputs are delivered properly to the production houses and printers
  • Check and document the machine proof and ensure that materials are printed error-free

Video Content Development

  • Provide necessary support to the supervisor in reviewing scripts of the video productions
  • Co-view the video segments with supervisor and provide feedback for ensuring the sisimpur curriculum is adhered in the segments

Training and Workshops

  • Lead the planning, budgeting and implementation of the training and workshops on materials development
  • Support supervisor in organizing and facilitating the content workshops
  • Provide supports to the Admin Department in procuring venues and logistics for the training and workshops 

Field Test, Research and Evaluation

  • Work with supervisor to decide the materials and contents for formative tests, review instruments and ensure that the study findings are incorporated in the final versions

Any other SWB task as assign by SW/ or SWB management.

Key Qualifications Required

  • University graduate, preferably with master’s degree, in Education, Early Childhood Development, Management, Educational Psychology, Curriculum Studies and Linguistics 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in development materials and curriculum
  • Fluent in reading and writing Bangla and English
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Passion for children’s media and education
  • Able to see the educational contents from lens of gender, cultural diversity, pluralistic point of view

  • A culturally sensitive person - Familiarity with and sensitivity to children and people from various backgrounds and circumstances in Bangladesh and globally
