Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV)

Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV) was established in 1988, a non-profit organization advocating for equal rights and social inclusion for people with a disability in Bangladesh, particularly the underprivileged. We provide medical treatment, primary education, vocational training, emergency financial aid and community support to our beneficiaries, their families and communities to encourage social acceptance, empowerment and independence of people with a disability.

Technical Coordinator - Nutrition (NICAPLW Program)
Nutrition Department

Job Location : Kutupalong Refugee Camp
Number of position : 1 (No of positions may be changed)
Duration of the contract : up to 16th September’18
Starting date : 10-March-2018

Assignment:

  • Develop and adapt necessary reporting formats and prepare a monitoring matrix for the program
  • Supervision of SARPV nutrition program activities in assigned OTP center
  • Provide all types of technical supports to the field level staffs.
  • Assist the Technical Manager & Program Coordinator of SARPV for the overall management of the program.
  • She/ He will spend 60% time at the field and 40% for official work, training and meeting.

Overall Objective:

To ensure the smooth and proper running of the program through providing systematic and regular supervision, monitoring and follow up of all activities at the field level through OTP personnel and field Volunteers.

A) Screening, detection and referral mechanism for SAM/MAM cases and their admission and discharge in the OTP/SFP site:

  • Supervision, monitoring and follow up of all the activities in the OTP/SFP sites at the Center level  and ensuring that they are running all the activities according to established protocols and standards given by Unicef.

B) Ensure BCC component of the NICAPLW Programme is in place

  • Ensure regular nutrition education session on the distribution day
  • Ensure regular Healith Education Session in community
  • Ensure appropriate IEC materials used by Community Nutrition Volunteers, Health Educator Volunteers in the session
  • Ensure the quality of nutrition education session at the OTP and community level

C)  Quality control of the Programme

  • Ensure appropriate referral and follow up mechanism is in place for malnourished children.
  • Ensure the implementation and follow up of standard protocols in the OTP centers
  • Ensure the hygiene is maintain in the OTP centers

D) Training of the staffs:

  • Prepare action plan on probationary period and ensure appraisal after probationary period and at the end of the year of all program staff.
  • Identify the strength and weakness of the staff and build up the capacity of staff.
  • Identify the needs for training of different categories of staff in the program and develop training module in collaboration with UNICEF.
  • Formal and on the job training of OTP personnel in close collaboration with UNICEF.
  • Prepare a training report and submit to the PC

E) Report / analysis

  • Prepare monthly target and activities plan for whole program and ensure the collection and compilation of the daily, weekly and monthly statistic reports and submission to the Program Coordinator.
  • Support to the OTP personnel and MIS to compile of daily, weekly and monthly statistic reports
  • Support to the OTP personnel for collection and compilation of the stock reports (consumption, stock balance and request new supplies for food and non-food items for OTP CENTERS.)
  • Report any kind of problems to the Program Coordinator
  • Make sure that daily, weekly and monthly record of beneficiaries (admissions, cured, defaulters, death, transfer, gain of weight, length of stay, etc) is in place and staff of nutrition program is able to fulfill efficiently.
  • Ensure monthly qualitative and quantitative nutrition education session
  • Submission of monthly analytical report to the Program Coordinator on the basis of Camp level monthly statistical reports

F) Control

  • Control and follow up of distribution and consumption of food products in the OTP CENTERS and ensure adequate supplies through Community Mobilizer-Nutrition
  • Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained at the Camp level warehouse.
  • Check, control and ensure the attendance of nutrition staffs and respecting working hours.
  • Check the appropriate use of nutrition equipments and materials in the OTP centers and identify the need for reparation or replacement of them if they are out of order.

G) Coordination and collaborations:

  • Work in close collaboration and coordination with UNICEF field staffs and give timely feedback  on going activities through Program Coordinator
  • Collaboration and coordination with UNICEF team members at field level
  • Collaboration and coordination with CIC office of both Kutupalong and Nayapara refugee camps.
  • Collaboration and coordination with other stakeholders at field level
  • Active participation to the community mobilization and awareness sessions among the local population.
  • Ensure monthly coordination meeting of SARPV field staffs at the Camp level

Educational / Professional Background:

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science / MPH

Required Competences & Skills:

  • At least 1 year experience in the field of management of nutrition project
  • Ability to ensure coordination & negotiation with partners on the ground
  • Technically sound on nutrition aspect
  • Well known about the country  strategy and guideline of CMAM
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Team-building, capacity building and training skills
  • Leagues: English and Bengali Excellent Written and spoken.
  • Excellent computer skill (Microsoft office: Word, Excel and Power point)

Salary and Others:   

  • Salary : Monthly 42000 - 45000 TK
  • Other benefits: As per SARPV policy.
