Bangladesh Programme Manager

As a senior Saferworld manager in Bangladesh, the Programme Manager will lead the development, implementation, coordination, management and representation of programmes. The main objective of the role is to provide development and support, including management, personnel and financial oversight, as well as supporting fundraising colleagues with resource mobilisation.

The focus of this position will be the inception and implementation of a significant new programme called “Women’s Empowerment and Social Cohesion Building in Cox’s Bazaar”. This project is led by Saferworld in consortium with BRAC and seeks to build social cohesion within two Rohingya camps and between the displaced population and the host communities. It has a particular focus on gender, gender-based violence (GBV) and conflict sensitivity and the post holder will be able to draw on their in depth understanding and experience of both in order to manage the implementation of this project effectively.

The programme manager will also work with staff and partners in Bangladesh, the regional Asia team, and Saferworld headquarters to identify new business development opportunities that are consistent with our priorities, and lead in-country efforts to bring those opportunities to fruition. The post holder will be responsible for senior representation work with the donor community and other stakeholders in the country and region.

You will bring your track record of successful implementation of large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders to this role, and do so in a way that highlights your focus on delivery and results.

You will have a strong record in working on gender, GBV and/ or conflict sensitivity and a good understanding of these, which you will be comfortable applying to this role. You will have experience working and coordinating with humanitarian organisations and coordination mechanisms, particularly around protection and gender/GBV issues.

You will be as confident producing a detailed expenditure report as you are with a narrative report which captures learning of what has been achieved and why. A good all-rounder with a record of managing projects in Bangladesh you will ideally have experience of either the humanitarian emergency or peacebuilding sectors (and ideally both), and illustrate the ability to learn quickly on the job.
