Term of Reference (ToR)

Position: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator (MHPSS coordinator)

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Plan, develop and implement mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities in a participatory manner. 
  • Plan and monitor group psychosocial support activities in collaboration with community psychosocial volunteers.
  • Ensure timely referral and follow up of cases in need of further support.
  • Develop supervision model for psychologists and Community Psychosocial Volunteers (CPVs).
  • Build the capacities of psychologists, community psychosocial volunteers and community health workers, including trainings in MHPSS, to facilitate participatory and inclusive activities. 
  • Monitor indicators and targets for psychologists and collect monthly data and share it with UNHCR public health unit.
  • Contribute to data entry and analysis of gathered information.
  • She/he will ensure consistency in the psychosocial work across different locations, initiate and lead meetings for sharing and learning and continuous improvement of activities through the development and maintaining link with other MHPSS actors.

Educational Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology with at least 5 years of experiences (Clinical/counselling/educational psychology preferable).

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in any development/humanitarian organization, including specific experiences on MHPSS.
  • Experience of direct psychosocial support to vulnerable children and adults. Supervision and management experience.
  • Experience with developing technical material and conducting trainings. Experience with community-based work.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; good communication skills in English, Bengali. Chittagonian language is highly desirable.
  • Solution oriented, collaborative, maturity in dealing with challenging work and complex team structures.
  • Willingness of frequent field travel and capability of working under pressure are also essential

Technical skills:

Good interpersonal, team working, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, as is a mature, confident, patient and resilient disposition. Long hours, working with people in disadvantaged situations and limited funding and resources can sometimes make the job quite demanding, Microsoft Word, Microsoft power point, Microsoft Excel.
