Researcher & Developer – COS
H&M is currently looking for a high caliber Researcher & Developer to join our COS team in Bangladesh Production office.  

COS, Collection of Style, is for men and women who want high end design and good quality at a comparatively affordable price. 

Since the brand’s launch in 2007 on London’s Regent Street, COS has created seasonal menswear and womenswear collections. In addition to these main collections, the brand has added a seasonal childrenswear collection as well as accessories and external ‘likeable’ items.

COS is a part of the H&M Group and compliments the H&M brand.

Main Responsibilities

  • To learn the COS concept and understand what makes the brand unique.
  • The fabrications and the qualities that we use are among our biggest competitive strengths so the understanding for the COS fabrication choices is essential to be successful in the long run as COS R&D.
  • To get to know Buying office - to get to know each and every buyers individual taste.
  • Identify & develop new material (includes fabric, yarn, components)/ treatment/ trims .Drive the developments to ensure best options, qualities, prices, lead times.
  • In pre-order stage, support Quotation Merchandiser with stuk appropriate options on fabrics/ qualities specific to product.
  • Interpret concept to material. Work with suppliers/mills to develop their capabilities on new qualities and / or improve performance on complex qualities.
  • For new material, update information and price in Castor.
  • Get to know supplier capability from COS-perspective and “high-quality/small brand perspective
  • To set up new routines and organize the R&D process within the team in a SMART way since this is a new role for the team. Make sure all handovers with merchandisers and PD goes as smooth as possible.
  • Work closely with the Material Management team for suppliers for new material, season’s materials etc.
  • Keep BO informed of Developments status.
  • Regular communications, identify supplier strengths, give and receive feedback to improve performance.

Education and Experience requirements

  • Preferably 4- 5 years of  relevant experience
  • Minimum graduate
  • A textile degree or a degree in fashion design/art will be preferred.

 Knowledge and Skills requirements

  • Pro-active and problem solver.
  • Good knowledge of suppliers' capabilities. Fashion sense, price, quality, capacity & lead-times.
  • Strong technical knowledge in textile fabrication (Woven, jersey and heavy knit)
  • Strong understanding for high quality - fabrics, products, brands, industry
  • A passion for fashion
