JOB HOLDER |
Country and Base Assignment: Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar |
OBJECTIVE |
The Field Logistician is to support programs teams on intervention sites with technical guidance and provision of necessary material and equipment.
He/she will collaborate with program services and the logistics department to ensure compliance with PUI logistics procedures for the transport of equipment and materials and the management of stocks. |
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS |
To ensure there is a good level of cooperation between the logistics service and the program team:
- Familiarize him/herself with the PUI intervention zone
- Communicate any problems encountered during delivery/collection of program equipment
- Take part in weekly meetings between the logistics and program departments so as to understand the priorities
- Propose, set up and update daily a resource for communication requirements/priorities between the logistics service and the program team
Ensure program needs are correctly identified and ensure speedy delivery of equipment/materials
- Support program team in quantification and qualification of needs for field interventions
- Provide technical guidance for construction work on site
- Provide technical guidance on the type of material needed and available, understanding local market specificities
- Support the Logistics Officer in supplier selection to ensure appropriate goods are selected
- Make sure that all documents relating to the transport of goods and equipment are accurate: delivery voucher, packing list, distribution voucher, etc.
- Make sure that site managers are keeping accurate records of who is responsible for equipment.
- Propose, set up and update daily a tool for monitoring the equipment available on each site.
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of field delivery procedures and share ideas with the logistics officer for optimizing the procedure
Monitor loading/unloading at the delivery site:
- Make sure that outgoing truck loads to specific sites/buildings, delivery forms and Out of stock cards for equipment delivered by the technical service correspond.
- Inform the Logistics officer about vehicles and day labourers required for the deliveries.
- Make sure that equipment are personally received by listed individuals and verified by the program team at the intervention sites.
Reporting/Capitalization
- Contribute to the compilation of price and supplier lists, as well as information in use (import-export, exemption, taxes)
- Provide relevant information to the Logistics Officers to ensure that Purchase Files are monitored and that the status of each order is given to the person waiting
- Provide the logistics coordinator with all information needed to draft intermediary and final reports

REQUIRED SKILLS |
- Language skills: Fluent in English, and Bangla
- Computer Skills:
- Proficient user of MS office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoin
- Proficient user of engineering software
- Education degree: Construction/Engineering background recommended
- Work experience:
Previous experience in logistics activities is required
Significant experience in construction work is required
Previous experience in an NGO is recommended
Other requirements
- Commitment to the NGO values and principles
- Excellent knowledge Cox’s Bazar District, willing to travel locally
