Position Announcement for Personal Assistant to the Ambassador

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka is looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to manage the Ambassador’s office, schedules, travels, visits, and correspondence. The successful candidate must be an excellent organizer and communicator with a proactive and friendly attitude. S/he should be good at multitasking and following up on matters with limited direction. S/he must also be able to keep an overview and move tasks along, even under pressure.

Main job responsibilities

  • Manage the Ambassador’s office by organizing schedules
  • Handle all correspondence with authorities, partners and others
  • Opening and distributing incoming mail
  • Make arrangements for the Ambassador’s travels and visits
  • Liaise with other parts of the Embassy, and with the other Nordic Embassies, for planning and preparing internal events, as well as the Ambassador’s participation in external events
  • As contact point for the Ambassador’s involvement, ensure timely preparation and follow-up of events and appointments
  • Provide information and advice concerning protocol, local circumstances, language and culture.
  • Maintain the Embassy’s lists of contacts
  • In addition, perform other tasks that may be confided to him/her by the Ambassador, mostly in the consular and administrative areas

Professional pre-requisites

  • Minimum graduate-level degree
  • Minimum five years working experience in a similar role
  • Excellent command of English, both oral and written
  • Excellent command of the MS Office suit
  • Oriented towards efficiency, problem solving and being a good team player
  • Outstanding communication and cooperation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of national entities, authorities, civil society and business communities
