Program Officer

Job Description/ Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and managerial support for developing, planning, and implementing study protocols and fieldwork.
  • Contribute to the development of project evaluation and OR methods, tools, and protocols.
  • Work closely with implementing partners on implementation of the research activities.
  • Plan and manage training activities; provide ongoing technical oversight of data collection and data management; data analysis and report-writing; plan interpretation workshops and spearhead local dissemination activities.
  • Manage local research activities according to established work plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Manage recruitment and supervision of study staff and subcontractors.
  • Train data collection staff and oversee all data collection activities.
  • Conduct monitoring visits to study sites, troubleshoot accordingly, and report back to the PI/supervisors.
  • Write monthly update reports, prepare final report and spearhead local dissemination activities to ensure research findings are used to advance policy/advocacy and programmatic needs.
  • Develop and implement capacity building workshops and other technical assistance for in-country implementing and research partners to design, implement, analyze, and disseminate evaluation and OR studies.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and partner organizations.
  • Any other job assigned by the Supervisor.

Job Nature: Contractual

Educational & Other Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social science, public health, medical graduate, or related field plus five years relevant research in similar responsibilities and/or training experience. For PhD candidate year of experiences may be relaxed.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, analyze, and disseminate research.
  • Experience in supervising and monitoring data collection and data management.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and data analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SPSS, Stata and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel to rural field sites and project areas frequently.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer research and evaluation skills to colleagues, partners, and local organizations.
  • Excellent english language (oral and written) communication skills, including demonstrated interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and to collaborate with local government, NGOs, and community organizations, donors, partner organizations, and others at all levels.
  • Superior diplomatic, representational, problem solving, management, and interpersonal skills.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years experience in similar responsibilities

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Experience in working at international NGOs will be an added advantage
  • Experience may be relaxed for extra-ordinary young candidate
  • Multi-tasking working attitude, team-player and creative thinker

Salary Range:
