COMMUNICATION WITH COMMUNITIES/ PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT OFFICER (CWC/PSS OFFICER)

The role:

Based at Ukhia the CWC/PSS OFFICER will be responsible to provide technical support to ensure quality implementation of the Communication with Communities/Psychosocial Support component of the Child Protection in Emergencies response through active engagement in PSS/awareness raising activities in Child Friendly Spaces, Youth Clubs and as part of a Mobile Team. Support and collaborate with child protection community based groups (CPCBG) through capacity building, advocacy and awareness raising activities related to strengthen the community based child protection mechanisms. Contribute to design and facilitate capacity development activities/ training of volunteers in the areas of community based child protection (mapping of existing community structures, community dialogue and engagement, awareness raising activities, and in responding to the needs of adolescents (psychosocial support, life skills, etc.)

The person:

  • Previous experience working in Child Friendly Space, Community Based and Psychosocial Support service provision.
  • University degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or related field.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and established international child protection minimum standards.
  • Experience in implementing programs focusing on: working with vulnerable children, social work with children and families, working with child survivors of violence, children outside of parental care, psychosocial support, etc.
  • Fluency in Bengali and English (both reading and writing). Prior experience of working in greater Chittagong Division and knowledge of Chittagong or Rohingya is a plus.

Duration of the position is Six months with possible extension.
