Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Regional Commodity & IS Manager, the primary role of IS Specialist will be to provide day to day technical support for database development and administration of PCI’s cloud based centralized information management system called Global Pathways (GPath). This support includes software coding, development and ensuring smooth implementation of the system globally. The incumbent must be very conversant in software coding using standard development environments. S/he will be responsible for tracing and fixing erroneous records. S/he will extend support to design user interfaces, manage user access rights in the system and manage the master database. The IS Specialist will provide support to troubleshoot and optimize processes. S/he will provide web-hosting support using Microsoft Azure cloud management portal. S/he may be required to travel internationally to conduct trainings for system implementation as necessary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide database administration support for hosting, configuration, security issues for large scale database (backup, restore, job schedule, indexing)
  • Assist Regional IS Manager with development and optimization of post back database processes (stored procedures, UDF, TDF, Job schedules).
  • Perform administrative actions to let system restore correct version of the data points updated by the end users.
  • Monitor and optimize backend business processes, executed by the system.
  • Manage SQL Server database using Microsoft Azure cloud management portal including job scheduling, back up, restoration, and data management.
  • Tailor system dashboard to provide maximum benefit out of the database.
  • Track erroneous data and fix them as per requirements.
  • Monitor performance of the system and optimize accordingly.
  • Explore possibilities to upgrade the system in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Provide necessary support to test the interfaces prior to deployment into live site.
  • Provide support to extract bulk data while meeting ad hoc reporting requirements.
  • Design and embed customized report templates as per requirements.
  • Provide user trainings for proper system use and management.

Required Skills

  • Fluency in written and spoken English required
  • Master’s degree in international development, statistics, computer science, or related field; certification or degree in a technology field is a plus
  • Software coding for desktop and mobile application forms and processes using ASP C#.net, PHP, Bootstrap, CSS, Java scripting, jQueries, AJAX etc. and have experiences in responsive web programming.
  • Knowledge on ArcView is required for featuring GIS functionalities with the system.
  • Hands on experiences on database administration using SQL Server and advanced SQL scripting.
  • Experiences on working with Azure cloud management portal will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with project rollout and management of large scale programs database is highly required.

  • Proven team skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical staff
  • Excellent inter-personal and inter-cultural skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally and provide training and system support.
