Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator


Location: Cox’s Bazar (Ukhiya), Job Type: Temporary, Fixed Term (up to December 31, 2018)

Salary & Benefits: BDT. 1,722,303 per annum (13 months) gross with other benefits e.g. medical for spouse and children, contributory Provident fund, gratuity, leave & Insurance etc.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are urgently looking for a dynamic team player who will work with the Emergency Response team under Oxfam in Bangladesh.

Responsible to support the response’ program processes, particularly on logic of intervention (program logical frameworks and MEAL plans), and contribute to ensuring adherence to Oxfam’s program quality standards. Lead on the development of logical frameworks and MEAL plans in project proposals, in consultation with program teams, funding coordinator and partners (where applicable).Responsible for estimating and setting MEAL resources in proposals’ budgets and act as focal point for Oxfam’s Program, Accountability and Learning System (OPAL) for managing information and projects related to the response.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Good knowledge and strong demonstrated experience in monitoring, evaluation,
  • accountability and learning, including participatory approaches
  • At least five years’ experience of work in humanitarian and/or development context programs
  • Strong commitment to the aims and objectives of Oxfam, including strong commitment to gender equality and social justice
  • Experience in developing capacities of staff and partners to undertake monitoring, evaluation and learning activities – including meet both reporting and learning needs.
  • Results-focused with ability to manage own workload proactively, with own initiative.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel in the country

Essential

  • Strong technical understanding of a range of rigorous research and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEAL) methods – a familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative approaches
  • Ability to work effectively with others to achieve results, with strong advisory / facilitation skills and experience in training and coaching teams and individuals – especially in MEAL.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and fluency in fluency in English.
  • Well-developed conceptual, critical, analytical thinking and planning skills
  • Good understanding of and commitment to putting gender equality at the heart of development and humanitarian work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work sensitively with people from various cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fragile environments, ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in relevant area (e.g. statistics, evaluation, research) from a recognized university
  • Community engagement and development skills
  • Can speak, read and write Chittagong
