SR. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ASSOCIATE


Location: Cox’s Bazar (Ukhiya), Job Type: Temporary, Fixed Term (up to December 31, 2018)
[Only Bangladeshi nationals are eligible to apply]

Salary & Benefits: BDT. 368,562 per annum (13 months) gross with other benefits e.g. medical for spouse and children, contributory Provident fund, gratuity, leave & Insurance etc.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are urgently looking for a dynamic team player who will work with the Emergency Response team under Oxfam in Bangladesh.

Implement activities on the ground of Oxfam’s Public Health Promotion programme ensuring integration with all sectors of programme areas including community participation and consultations in an emergency programme. The work may involve, an immediate emergency stage, contribution to assessment of the situation and in later stages participation on the implementation of public health measures required to alleviate the plight of the people affected by the emergency.

The post holder reports to Community Engagement Officer.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Essential

  • At least bachelor degree or suitable qualification in the areas of public health.
  • At least 1 year WASH experience including project management, monitoring and implementation.
  • Some prior knowledge of public health, communication or community development.
  • Demonstrate accountability to partners and disaster and conflict affected people and communities
  • Ability to make autonomous decisions in a fluid environment
  • Maintain focus on delivery of timely and appropriate results using available resources
  • Leader ship and leading teams in field,
  • Thinking out of box,
  • Good thinking and listening skills
  • Basic awareness on integrating gender, less able, marginalized and diversity issues in public health programme activities.
  • Work knowledge of written and spoken English/ Bengali / Chittagonian (local language).

Desirable

  • Demonstrate understanding of when a decision can be taken and when to involve others
