Senior Programme Officer – Water Governance Capacity Building


Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Job Type: Fixed term (01 Year)

Salary & Benefits: BDT.  10,564,51 (13th months) per annum gross with other benefits e.g. medical for spouse and children, contributory Provident fund, gratuity, leave & Insurance etc.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate cooperation among stakeholders related with governance of Transboundary Rivers in Ganges – Brahmaputra – Meghna river basins, This is position aims at ending the economic injustice caused through lack of access and control over water resources from common pool resources associated with transboundary rivers and the suffering from shocks and stresses from river related disasters, which can be avoided with inclusive water governance.

Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge:

Essential

  • Graduated in a natural resource governance or management related discipline, which may include social sciences, environmental and life sciences, engineering and business studies;
  • Around 5 years of professional experience;
  • Good understanding of Bangladesh context of natural resource governance and situation of marginalized communities in the grass-roots;
  • Good understanding of stakeholder relationships in development sector;
  • Excellent writing capacity in English and Bangla;
  • Skills in MS Office, Excellent presentation skills and Strong interpersonal skills;

Desirable

  • Masters in natural resource governance or management related discipline;
  • Relevant working experience in water governance in specific or natural resource governance in general;
  • Some experience of voluntary social work or working with voluntary organizations.
  • Experience of facilitating trainings, workshops and other forms of capacity building activities
  • Experience in partner management
  • Strong commitment to the rights of the most marginal communities
  • Strong commitment to the conservation of river ecosystems
  • Strong commitment to the values of accountability, inclusiveness and empowerment
  • Strong commitment towards gender inclusion and child rights in specific
  • Respect towards voluntarism and civil society activism
  • Forward looking and visionary
  • Emotional intelligence to deal with a diverse range of stakeholder including from government, private sector, civil society and grassroots communities.
