Field and Relationship Manager

Location: Cox’s bazar, Bangladesh, Job Type: Temporary, Fixed Term (up to August 31, 2018)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Field and Relationship Manager is part of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for coordinating Oxfam’s response with government and other national actors in Cox’s Bazar district. He/she will manage a team of three, responsible for Cox’s Bazar, Ukhia and Teknaf sub-districts respectively. He/she will liaise and network with the various government officials, military coordination officers, and local, national and international NGO representatives. He/she will formally represent Oxfam in government, coordination and sectorial meetings at district and sub-district level and below. He/she will work closely with programme teams to ensure that Oxfam’s operations have all the necessary government approvals and are legally compliant. He/she will oversee the submission of all requests for approval for Oxfam operations to the government and keep government officials informed about the progress of Oxfam’s work.

The post holder reports to Humanitarian Programme Coordinator, Cox Bazar, Bangladesh

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Essential:

  • Relevant government / administrative experience of 7 years with minimum 3 year working experience in working in humanitarian or development programme-related areas;
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Bangla skills;
  • Able to write formal letters and documents in Bangla on a computer
  • Ability to communicate with government authorities at a senior and higher level
  • Proficient in using email, internet and Microsoft Office
  • Proven understanding in the legal regulations and administrative procedures to obtain government approvals for programme work (FD-6/7)
  • A profound understanding of the government coordination structures, mandates of different government bodies and internal hierarchies.
  • Excellent communicator with strong written and reporting skills, and an excellent ability to influence verbally to persuade with diplomacy and tact;
  • Ability to analyse highly complex situations and produce creative and pragmatic solutions, showing flexibility where needed
  • Adaptable and able to work under pressure in a demanding and fast-moving environment;
  • Team-working skills.
  • Experience in security management
  • Ability to keep clear and concise records.

Desirable:

  • Previous similar work experience, ideally with non-governmental organizations would be an advantage.
