Senior Coordination and Government Relations Officers

Salary & Benefits: BDT. 1,056,451 per annum (13 months) gross with other benefits as per Oxfam policy

We are urgently looking for a dynamic team player who will work with the Emergency Response team under Oxfam in Bangladesh.

These 3 positions will be responsible for coordinating Oxfam’s response with government and other national actors in Cox’s Bazar district and Ukhia and Teknaf sub-districts respectively. They will liaise and network with the various government officials, military coordination officers, and local, national and international NGO representatives. They will formally represent Oxfam in government, coordination and sectorial meetings at district and sub-district level and below. They will also ensure that Oxfam’s operations have all the necessary government approvals and support the Oxfam team to make sure our programmes are legally compliant. They will submit requests for approval for our operations to the government and keep government officials informed about the progress of our work.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Relevant government / administrative experience of 4 years with minimum 1 year working experience in working in humanitarian or development programme-related areas;
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Bangla skills;
  • Able to write formal letters and documents in Bangla on a computer
  • Proficient in using email, internet and Microsoft Office
  • Proven understanding in the legal regulations and administrative procedures in obtaining government approvals for humanitarian work (FD-6/7)
  • A solid understanding of the government coordination structures, mandates of different ministries and internal hierarchies.
  • Excellent communicator with strong written and reporting skills, and an excellent ability to influence verbally to persuade with diplomacy and tact;
  • Adaptable and able to work under pressure in a demanding and fast-moving environment;
  • Initiative and motivation to work independently and develop solutions to problems. Highly flexible in style with the ability to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems;
  • Experience in managing or coordinating humanitarian programmes;
  • Experience in successfully managing FD-7 and FD-6 applications
  • Fluent in English writing and speaking to a professional level.
