The Nutrient Management for Diversified Cropping in Bangladesh (NUMAN) Project aims to increase the profitability and sustainability of intensive and emerging cropping systems in Bangladesh through improved nutrient management. The NUMAN Project is led by Murdoch University - Australia with the partnership of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Soil Resource Development Institute, Khulna University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Conservation Agriculture Service Providers Association, Bangladesh Fertilizer Association, and the International Plant Nutrition Institute.

Organizer - Business Development (OBD)

Aims of the position

The OBD will provide background support to Conservation Agriculture Service Providers Association (CASPA) to setup new projects on community-based business development.

Working area

Based in Conservation Agriculture Service Providers' Association (CASPA), Head Office, Durgapur, Rajshahi.

Qualification

  1. At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant field.
  2. Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market and develop relevant business plan/projects for CASPA.
  3. Excellent communication and negotiation skill.
  4. Promote partnerships with the CASPA and farmers' community, external agencies of a business or non-governmental nature, other levels of government agencies.
  5. At least 4 year’s proven and progressive practical experience working for business development.
  6. Ability to build the capacity of staff, CASPA and partners.
  7. Ability to work under extreme pressure and meeting deadlines.
  8. Good networking and alliance building skills.
  9. Knowledge of effective resource mobilization skills.
  10. Fluency in English and Bengali.
  11. Excellent Communicator orally and in writing.
  12. Innovative, self-driven and team player

Major responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate and guide CASPA to setup new business projects.
  2. Develop new business intervention and designing of the farmers level business programs.
  3. Provide mediation services to development CASPA committee working on business development projects to ensure conflicts are resolved, harmony is achieved and delays are minimized.
  4. Develop relationships with CASPA and farmers' communities, community business plan and /or assist in the development of marketing plan, development committees etc. to ensure smooth efficient delivery of business development projects of CASPA.
  5. Assist in the building of capacity within CASPA/farmers community related to their ability to be effective partners in the planning and delivery of the business development projects, their operation and management.
  6. Provide guidance and advice to the programs management team on technical issues of business development projects of CASPA.  
  7. Network and maintain dialogue with relevant stakeholders e.g. Government Institutions, National and International Development Organizations to ensure collaboration, synergy and sharing of experiences on community-based business development issues.
  8. Lead training workshops for relevant stakeholders, staff and key actors on advocacy and business development related topics;
  9. Support preparation and dissemination of information related to community-based business opportunities that are relevant to CASPA and NUMAN project.
  10. Identifying training needs and organize trainings in business development for CASPA.

  1. Willing to live in Durgapur, Rajshahi.
  2. Having computer operation knowledge, especially MSWord, Excel and Email.
  3. Ability to work under extreme pressure and meeting deadlines;
  4. Having English and Bengali typing skill.
  5. Willing to travel other project locations (as and when necessary).
  6. Willing to drive motorcycle and having valid motorcycle driving license.

Salary packages

1. Gross monthly salary Tk. 30,000/-
