Request for Proposals for the Review of Nutrition Policy and Programmes

The Nutritional International (NI) (www.nutritionintl.org) is an international Non-Government Organization (NGO) dedicated to ensuring that the world's most vulnerable - especially women and children in developing countries - get the vitamins and minerals they need to survive and thrive. With headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, Nutritional International (NI) maintains regional offices in New Delhi, India and Nairobi, Kenya that manage country offices in Asia and Africa.

The Nutritional International (NI) aims to improve the health and nutritional status of adolescent girls and women of reproductive age; pregnant women and their newborns; and infants and young children – so as to reduce mortality, anaemia, birth defects, low birth weight and stunting.  As such NI has implemented a number of interventions with local governments and other partners across a number of high-burden countries in Africa and Asia. 

In Bangladesh, Enhancing Nutrition seRvices for Improving Maternal and Child health (ENRICH) project will target 5 upazilas of Thakurgaon district located in the northern Bangladesh. ENRICH will aim to address maternal, child health, nutrition (MCHN) gaps, in Thakurgaon district  targeting at least 404,343 people including pregnant, lactating women, under 5 children and marginal farmers. It will specifically address the basic nutrition and nutrition sensitive issues such as stunting, anemia and wasting through increased use of IFA, MNPs, Bio-fortified food (zinc rice), diet diversification, kitchen gardening and capacity building for the community, engaging government to work for improvements on health policy and the community health workers. 

The goal of consultancy is to support advocacy efforts to implement the nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programming in Thakurgaon district under the guidance of national nutrition policy of Bangladesh in terms of achieving the ENRICH project objective mentioned in the terms of reference.
