Position: Project Officer

The purpose of the assignment will be to support the host communities living in Teknaf and Ukhia upazila and facilitating the access to improved sanitation facilities, personal hygiene and hand washing facilities for at least 50,000 vulnerable people living in geographic area nearer to makeshift camps and the affected host communities by undocumented populace entered from Mayanmar.

It is expected that the proposed interventions in the selected host communities would undoubtedly ensure bringing sustained behavioral change and reduction of health risks associated with water and sanitation related diseases. Through the project, during the service commencement, NGO Forum expects to reach extreme vulnerable groups, provide vulnerable beneficiaries who will receive direct assistance for WASH needs and coordinate with and complement the existing WATSAN/WASH programmes of the Government of Bangladesh, DPHE, UNICEF, UPs, BDRCS, UN agencies, international NGOs and local/national NGOs working, LGIs and upazila administration in Cox’s Bazar by addressing identified gaps and scaling up of services.

Job Description / Responsibility

Project Activities Implementation:

  • Assist in planning the project activities.
  • Assist to prepare the activity reports.
  • Assist to prepare the work plan considering the target of the project period.
  • Coordinate implementation of the WASH activities as per the work plan and or defined by supervisor.
  • Visit project intervention areas, selection of beneficiaries, and identification of committed players.
  • Assist to ensure the project’s technical follow-up for his/her component.

Scaling up access to improved sanitation facilities:

  • Assist to improvements for better performance of the activities.
  • Assist in regular monitoring of the construction work.
  • Assist to prepare the details work plan for the construction work and implementation.
  • Assist to prepare progress report of the  project activities.

Participate in Monitoring and Supervision of the project activities:

  • Regular monitoring of the WASH activities at field level;
  • Assist to prepare monitoring tools according to the project indicators.
  • Monitor and follow up the volunteers’ activities
  • Assist and guide the volunteers for smooth functioning of the project.

Job Nature: Full-time (Contractual basis)

Educational Requirements

  • M. Sc/B.Sc in Civil Engineering or Civil and Environment Engineering, Development Studies, Social Science, Anthropology, Political Science and relevant subjects and experiences. 
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering with 5 years relevant experience also may apply.

Experience Requirements

  • 2 to 3 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO

Additional Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in management (team management, supervision and activity planning)
  • Proven experience in organizing/ facilitating training.
  • Proven experience in repairing and maintenance of WASH facilities.
  • Experience in sanitation will be added value.

Required Competence & Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with people in local language (Cox’s Bazar)
  • Medium in English (written/verbal)
  • Team management, organizational capacity and activity planning - Ability to analyze and synthesize - Ability to work under limited supervision - Dynamism - Good report writing ability - Computer skills

Job Location: Cox’s Bazar

Salary Range: Tk. 40,000
