The National Center for State Courts is inviting applications from qualified candidates with a proven commitment to the rule of law and access to justice for the position of Communications & Awareness Specialist under the “Justice for All” Program in Bangladesh funded by USAID. The “Justice for All” Program is a five-year program that seeks to improve the delivery of legal aid services, increase judicial self-governance, and increase citizen awareness of legal rights and responsibilities. COMMUNICATIONS & AWARENESS SPECIALIST (1 POSITION)

Position Summary:

The position reports to the Communications & Awareness Manager. The position is Dhaka-based with frequent travel within Bangladesh. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in facilitating and monitoring the implementation of the Justice for All Awareness Strategy.
  • Assist in management and monitoring of JFA Program communications and awareness activities to increase citizen awareness of their legal rights, remedies, and responsibility.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of activities to enhance the visibility and awareness of legal aid services, and to support legal literacy, public information campaigns, and sensitization campaigns.
  • Assist in monitoring sub-grantee partner activities at the District-level and in facilitating best practice and continuous learning exchanges among program sub-grantees.
  • Summarize sub-grantee partner program reports and compile corresponding JFA program reports and fact sheets.
  • Coordinate development and branding of project documents, fact sheets, and informational materials, in coordination with the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist.
  • Coordinate development and web posting of blog entries, news items, and success stories on the JFA website.
  • Maintain awareness-related electronic and hard copy materials.
  • Maintain close contact with media professionals for proactive reporting in the media to increase citizen awareness of legal rights and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, women studies, or related field.
  • At least three years as Public Awareness Officer, Development Outreach & Communications Officer, or similar position working on legal awareness, women empowerment, or legal reform projects in Bangladesh.
  • Knowledge of and experience working under USAID technical and branding requirements preferred.
  • Graphic design capabilities and knowledge of File Storage & Transfer Protocol (FTP), TELNET, HTML, JavaScript language browser formatting and browser security issues a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, rigorous attention to detail, and problem solving abilities needed to perform effectively in a demanding position.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and ability to work under pressure with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and implement sensitive reforms in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics, transparency, and accountability in program implementation.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Bangla composing skills, internet navigation, etc.).
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Bangla.
