Research on reed varieties, feasibilities of reed culture in salty areas and suggest how to promote reed culture in a scientific way for getting highest production and promote reed culture in the areas for economic development of the project target communities.

Purpose

The purpose of hiring the services of the consultancy firm/ individual is to conduct research on feasibility of reed production and demonstration of reed culture in salty areas of Tala upazila under satkhira district, provide necessary measure how to produce reed in scientific way for getting highest production and marketing for getting maximum price and give support for processing reed properly.
Through this research the consultancy firm/ individual will assess the previous and current situation of reed culture of the locality and find ways how to promote reed culture in the areas for economic development of the project target communities.

Agriculture Faculty consulting team including a team leader/principal consultant, consultant team member/s and representative from Mukti Foundation.

Primary methodology

• Pre-discussion with Executive Committee members, Mukti Foundation staffs and different level stakeholders.
• Review and go through the objective of the research activity of the project, identify and explore the expected outcomes and results that will relate the project participants how they can benefit from the project ensuring the sustainable development. 
• Interview of different stakeholders (Reed producer, Reed mat weavers/producer and seller, CBO leaders and community representatives, women leaders, related government agency particularly the department of agriculture and extension (DAE), local administration etc. engaged with Mukti Foundation, Donor agencies) in the field and at office level (as appropriate).
• Also capture direction, opinion, observation of Mukti Foundation management.
• Review the previous and existing reed culture and capture the potential risk and challenges and risk mitigation options.
• Draft the First revision of research report and present to Mukti Foundation’s Management
• After the input from the Mukti Foundation Management and Board Member, incorporate the input and suggestions.
• Finalize the research report and submit the final report to Mukti Foundation management.
