Democracy International, Inc. (DI), a USA based international organization, seeks experienced Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist candidates for the multi-year USAID Bangladesh Obirodh “Road to Tolerance” program. The primary responsibility of the position will be to assist the Research Director with conceiving, implementing, and disseminating DI’s research agenda to identify the drivers of Violent Extremism (VE) in Bangladesh for the Obirodh project. This position is contingent upon donor approval of personnel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide implementation support and technical expertise for the project’s research projects related to understanding the drivers of VE in Bangladesh;
  • Help develop an outreach and dissemination plan for research findings on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE); help ensure the integration of research products and findings into current and future Obirodh programming;
  • Support the identification of existing research, assessment of gaps, and determination of which research should be continued; help determine which specific research could better inform program design and increase the knowledge base of CVE in Bangladesh;
  • Help manage the project’s overall learning agenda to derive lessons learned and best practices from project activities; and
  • Along with the Research Director, represent the project at external events and effectively coordinate with local CSOs, think tanks, universities, researchers, government and donors.

Required qualifications:

  • University Degree (Bachelor’s or higher);
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience conducting methodologically complex research projects, including experience with survey research, random sampling, survey design, research question design, enumeration, and logistical organization.
  • Ability to understand and determine appropriate evaluation questions that can determine and measure project impact;
  • Strong understanding of CVE and its relevant drivers, and experience with violence mitigation, conflict, peacebuilding, or political economy analysis; knowledge of relevant stakeholders in Bangladesh including academics, community leaders, government, and CSOs.
  • Complete fluency in written and oral English and Bangla.
