The Function

The Regional Finance Team supports country programmes to deliver accurate and timely financial and performance reports.

The Role

Reporting to the RFD, the RFO will be a key member of the South and East Asia regional team which is spread across Asia and Europe. The RFO’s primary responsibility will be to provide financial management support to the Bangladesh country programme, but they may also support other country programmes in China, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines and Viet Nam.  

Key Responsibilities

Support of country programmes:

  • With the RFD, review monthly performance of country programmes (reviewing both financial and statistical data), and follow up key queries with country programmes.
  • Support the RFD to understand and improve the efficiency of country programme operations and business models.
  • Review country programme budgeting and forecasting.
  • Review monthly country programme balance sheet reconciliations, and follow up discrepancies with country programmes.
  • Review and process all country programme cash requests, to ensure that cash is transferred in a timely manner.
  • Work with finance teams to ensure country programmes fully comply with the group accounting manual, and all data-entry and validation procedures.
  • Work with country programmes and Global Accounting Team to ensure all outstanding queries are resolved (for example, monthly inter-company, deferred income and stock accounting queries).
  • Work with country programmes to understand training needs, and work with the Global Accounting Team to ensure all training requirements are met. Deliver elements of training and inductions as directed by the RFD.
  • Review project budget proposals, and work with country programmes to ensure projects are correctly set-up, reported-on and closed down.
  • Support country programmes to ensure all local statutory and tax reporting requirements are met.
  • Provide other high quality support to country programmes as directed by the Regional Finance Director and International Operations Team, including occasionaly providing short-term cover to help fill vacant roles in country programme finance teams.

Experience (essential/desirable)

  • Accounting, Financial & management reporting experience. (essential)
  • Experience with an international commercial organization. (essential)
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office packages. (essential)
  • Finance systems experience, preferably including SUN systems, InforQ&A and InforBI. (desirable)
  • Experienced in multi currency reporting and accounting. (desirable)
  • Experience of group reporting in an international donor funded organisation. (desirable)
  • Experience documenting procedures and processes. (desirable)

Qualifications and Training (essential/desirable)

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant. (Desirable)
  • University degree. (essential)
