The Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) - a multi-disciplinary, not-for-profit, non-government organization engaged in a wide spectrum of social development and endeavoring to develop the standard & quality of media is looking for competent candidates with a firm grip on English, for the following positions:

Position : GIJN Bangla Editor

Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) is collaborating with Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI), a Bangladeshi non profit, and Swedish Fojo Media Institute to launch a knowledge platform for Bangla speaking journalists around the world.
For this initiative we are looking for an enthusiastic individual with solid journalistic background. This Dhaka based position is aimed at strengthening and building networks and organizations of investigative and data journalists in the Bangla speaking world. GIJN has similar services in five other languages.

Applicants must have a solid understanding of investigative journalism, with strong skills in managing social media.

Responsibilities:

• Run GIJN Bangla social media channels which include: 
  
  
  • Aggregate, produce, and distribute content (text, audio, video, multimedia) relevant to Bangla speaking investigative journalists worldwide
  • Translate content from GIJN English to Bangla
  • Facilitate and moderate discussion among GIJN Bangla followers on social media.
  • Promote good journalism from the Bangla speaking world to the rest of the GIJN network and encourage collaborations.
  
  
• Build an online investigative journalism resource centre in Bangla based on GIJN website.
• Participate in GIJN editors network and represent MRDI
• Work as a helpdesk for Bangla speaking journalist interested to use GIJNs resources and network.

Requirements:

• Skill at running a successful social media campaign is essential.
• At least five years of work as a professional journalist and a solid understanding of investigative journalism.
• Strong writing and communication skills in English and Bangla, and the ability to work in a global, cross-cultural environment.
• Gender sensitive, self-motivated with an ability to meet deadlines

This is a long term assignment with a workload of 20-30 hours per week.
