Chief Engineer

Job Context

  • You`ll be responsible to manage all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection.
  • Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation.
  • Responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements. Leads the crisis and emergency response team for all facility issues.
  • In addition, you`ll ensure that technically competent engineering staff are part of the team by selecting, training and developing a motivated, well-qualified maintenance team and ensuring the effective operation of all the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • Managing Property Operations and Engineering Budgets:
  • Supervises the entire Engineering department and operations.
  • Directs and supervisors the managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.
  • Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency and safety.
  • Establishes and manages an effective room & public areas/property maintenance program.
  • Ensures compliance with all IHG and Engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures.
  • Manages department's controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
  • Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
  • Supervises the day to day operations of Engineering.
  • Fire Life Safety, Risk Management and Environmental Management:
  • Responsible for the Fire Life Safety within the hotel, ensuring FLS Calendar is always up to date.
  • Participates in the preparation and implementation of the Risk Management Manual
  • Responsible for fire evacuations, fire system monitoring, MERLIN reporting
  • Ensures Green Engage Environment Program is maintained and up to date at all times
  • Implements Property management systems, BMS, LAN and AV requirements
  • Maintaining Property Standards:
  • Maintains accurate logs and records as required.
  • Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
  • Providing Exceptional Customer Service:
  • Handles guest problems and complaints effectively.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Managing Profitability:
  • Helps establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.
  • Ensures on-going communication occurs in all areas of responsibility to create awareness of business objectives, awareness of expectations and recognition of exemplary performance.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor in Mechanical engineering is required. Master in Mechanical/Electrical is preferable.

Experience Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Age At most 40 year(s)
  • Nationality: Bangladeshi
  • Training: Advance Vocational teaching certificate will be preferred. Risk Management related training will add value. Technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing is also required.
  • Experience: Overall 10 Years’ experience in similar position in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area /Minimum 5 years experience in the similar position including 3 years managers experience in the 5* hotel / Minimum 5 years’ experience in 5 * Hospitality Industry or Luxury Facilities Management/Minimum 2 Years experience in the similar position (or extensive 5* operation as Assistant Chief Engineer).
  • Languages: Fluent in English & Bangla - written and spoken
  • Computer Skill: High level of computer skill & operations. Well familiar in MS Office (word, excel, power point). Auto CAD is preferred
