Vacancy for Senior Program Manager - Performance & Planning
(Temporary 1 year contract)

The Australian High Commission, Dhaka, is seeking to fill a Senior Program Manager (SPM) – Performance & Planning vacancy. The SPM will be a member of the Development Cooperation Section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The role involves extensive liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Travel and non-standard work hours may apply.

The Role

  • Support senior management with strategic thinking and planning on policy issues related to the Bangladesh country program.
  • Over-sight across performance and quality aspect including Monitoring & Evaluation of the Australian Aid Program in line with DFAT’s policy and guidance.
  • Coordination and reporting on administered (aid) budget expenditure.
  • Coordination of aid effectiveness issues including local donor coordination mechanisms, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Financing for Development issues.
  • Perform research and analysis, as required.

Qualification, Experience and Knowledge

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Development Studies or a related social science.
  • A minimum of eight years’ professional experience, preferably in aid context.
  • Demonstrated understanding of development, political and economic issues in Bangladesh and a capacity to apply this to Australian Government’s aid investment plan and wider organisational goals.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and coordination skills including in team work.
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to research and produce well-thought out recommendations based on precedent and analysis.
  • Excellent English and Bengali written and spoken communications skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Remuneration

  • The salary range for this role is BDT 142,887 - 171,228 per month. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualification, experience and skills.  
  • The incumbent will be employed for one year subject to successful completion of a three-month probation period.
