Maintenance Planner and QA/QC Engineer

A large multinational Power Generation Company with operations in Bangladesh is looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner and QA/QC Engineer

position Summary:
Under the general guidance & supervision of the Maintenance Manager, responsible for the day to day computer operation of the maintenance management system (MP2); gather and collate data and derive technical information needed in formulating future maintenance plans and programs including short, medium and long term. Ensure QA/QC for new supplies of machines, parts & equipment.

Key qualification and experience

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering or Diploma in Engineering with minimum 3 years experience, in a related field from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Prior Work Experience:  Minimum 5 years working experience in the related field either with local or foreign organizations specially in power plant, or diesel engines.
  • Additional Training/Qualification:  Training on diesel/gas engines and their maintenance. Training in quality control and quality assurance is a plus.
  • Knowledge:   Must have theoretical & practical knowledge on running & maintenance of diesel/gas engines familiarization, quality control and quality assurance of parts and equipments. 
  • Skills and Abilities:  Must be skilled in computer operations including MS Word, Excel or spreadsheet applications.  Able to identify problems in advance & prepare schedules, Gantt chart for  maintenance work.
  • Language Proficiency: Level III, (good working knowledge), both spoken and written, English and Bangla

Detail duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare preventive maintenance schedules of each generating set & its auxiliaries. Coordinate and prepare the activities of maintenance and operation in relation to Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
  • Update and maintain engine records, mensurations, engine and equipment’s failures through a database file and establish trends and regression models.
  • Analyze/scrutinize engine pattern, trends & behavior & recommend necessary action that will help attain maximum availability & capacity. 
  • Prepare the annual projected parts and materials requirement including the annual projected operating expense and capital expenditures of the plant.
  • Gather and collate data and derive technical information needed in formulating future plans and programs, including short, medium and long term plans.
  • Develop standards to measure the performances of engine parts and auxiliaries and in-turn the inventory level (reordering point) of existing spare parts and materials needed for the next engine and auxiliaries shutdown.
  • Work on MP2 for work order, task, equipment module.  Prepare monthly executive report for department and daily work accomplishment reports. 
  • Responsible for QA/AC for materials and spares used during overhaul/maintenance/fabrications. Check conditions of spares and equipment in compliance with required specifications or standards and advise warehouse personnel for proper preservation and storage.  Make final inspection of services carried out by contractors before the acceptance of work is made.
  • Measure, calibrate, preserve and control inventory of used parts that can be re-used in the future. Maintain tracking report of engine components so that at a glance component movement can be ascertained.  Assist Maintenance Manager in budget preparation.  
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
