A large multinational company is looking for experienced personnel for the following positions for their Sirajganj project;

Position:Procurement Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Procurement Manager, responsible for overall procurement planning in coordination with other departments like operation, maintenance, etc.
  • Responsible to ensure that the procurement process is in line with the Group Procurement Policy.
  • Responsible for the off-the-shelf and long term purchasing activities for the company.  Meet deadlines in purchasing/procuring so materials are in hand well before the date of requirement.
  • Maintain suppliers database with grading of suppliers in accordance with company policy. Assist in the procurement of machines and equipment from overseas vendors and suppliers. 
  • To source and negotiate for material and services at the right price, right quality, and right source and ensure timely delivery.
  • To pre-qualify vendors and carry out vendor evaluation. To maintain 2nd tier suppliers for critical supplies. To maintain relationship with suppliers, meet up new vendors/studying new products. To work with end users on alternative material/vendors. 
  • To prepare bid documents, call for tender, collect competitive quotations from suppliers as per company’s procurement policy, review the quotations/bids, select and negotiate with vendor for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, commercial terms, deliveries and services with vendors.
  • To prepare the price comparison, obtain price approval and issuance of purchase order, forward the invoice to accounts department for arranging payment after receipt of item/services. 
  • Maintain vendor data base in the SAP system for annual evaluation including grading of suppliers .
  • Prepare Purchase order and approved via authorized person in the SAP system and ensure acceptance of the same by the vendor.
  • Reconciliation of all PO relative to company policy including 3-way match.
  • Prepare SES (Service Entry Sheet) /GR (Good Receipt) in the SAP system and ensure approval through proper authority and process payment with Finance Department.
  • Prepare summary of Purchase Order & payment status. Prepare report on the total purchase amount (monthly).
  • Source product as per specifications, and ensure the right time of material arrival so as to maintain availability of the plant at all times.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse to identify parts/equipment due for RFQ.
  • Provide input for annual budget and take measures for effective cost control.
  • Perform task assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.

Required qualification and experience:

Education: B.Sc/Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering from a recognized University/ institution.

Prior Work Experience: 5-7 years experiences in similar field in Utility/Power Plants or Chemical Process Plant.

Additional Training/Qualification: Procurement management training, or administrative/industrial management training. Familiarization with SAP system is desirable. Computer literacy in MS office is a must.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge in technical, trans-technical aspects of a plant and its equipment and accessories, procurement procedures and rules, budget preparation, international and local procurement and the related logistics involved in the procurement, shipment, customs and tariff related matters.

Skills and Abilities: Must be able to handle independently, procurement of bulk of machines and equipment, able to prepare O&M budget; liaise and coordinate with domestic as well as international vendors for supplies. Must have an excellent interpersonal skill to deal effectively with people.

Language Proficiency: Excellent Working Knowledge both in English & Bangla.
