A large multinational company is looking for experienced personnel for the following positions for their Sirajganj project;

Position: Shift Charge Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • By closely monitoring the operational parameters and implementing new effective suggestions to improve during the shift.
  • Closely monitoring the change-over and testing program.
  • Monitor and maintain safe Plant Operation and lead during emergencies to continue maintain safe and smooth operation. Ensuring accident free operations by abiding station safety rules.
  • Supervise, guide, motivate and develop the staff to ensure reliable and effective performance of the units.
  • Activate Plant shutdowns and start up schedules accordingly.
  • Review the maintenance job, issue, cancel and suspend permit to work and carry out proper plant isolations for ensuring plant and personnel safety and resume back the unit in to operation safely after maintenance.
  • Analysing the operational problems encountered and finding solutions / procedures / practices to avoid the re-occurrence of such problems.
  • Preparing daily reports, monthly reports, Incident reports, Gas nominations, availability declarations interacting with owner, ESC, etc. (night shift does more reports than day shift)
  • Communicating with LDC, BPDB and other external agencies on day to day operational issues.
  • Acting as Site Main Controller in the event of Plant Emergencies as per Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Response Management Procedure.
  • Involvement in the Business Continuity Unit Plan for Operations Department.
  • Bring up EHS concerns to the attention of his direct supervisor or QHSE department.
  • Be vigilant in the work area, identify and report to their Supervisors about imminent dangers / hazards / concerns to environment, health and safety.
  • Always follow the standard operations control procedures and good EHS practices such as lifesaving rules, reporting of near misses, PTW compliance etc. so as to avoid any activity which might lead to EHS incidents / non-conformities.
  • Participate in EHS trainings and awareness sessions/ campaigns.
  • Follow sound environmental practices for conservation of natural resources, good housekeeping and proper waste disposals on and off duty.
  • Perform Behaviour Based Safety Observation (BBSO) as per compliance requirements

Required qualification and experience:

Education: B.Sc or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized college/ university/institution.

Prior Work Experience: Minimum 12 year experience in a power plant or similar industry in plant operation; experience in Water and Power Plant Operations, preferably having Boiler / Steam Engineers Certificate.

Knowledge: Should have knowledge in DCS (distributed control system). Good knowledge of control logics and control loops diagrams. Good knowledge of water and power plant thermodynamics, steam turbine & gas turbines mechanic.

Skills and Abilities: Should be able to handle and take on-the-spot decision in emergency situations so to ensure uninterrupted operation, maintain environment & take safety precautions. Must be able to work under stress. Good computer knowledge and familiar with excel modeling. Must be highly motivated and driven individual who is very keen in solving problems and improving the plant. Have a keen eye for details and tapping into the expertise of other specialists in solving plant problems. Must be a leader and motivator of his shift team and set high standards for himself and his subordinates

Language Proficiency: Good Working Knowledge both in English & Bangla.
