The Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply project (DESWSP) will provide more reliable and sustainable water supply in Dhaka by developing a new surface water source to replace the failing groundwater supply. A 1,000 MLD intake on the Meghna River at Bisnondi will be constructed with pumps for 500 MLD and a 500MLD surface water treatment plant (WTP) at Gandharbpur, with some 22 km of twin ductile iron 1,600 mm diameter pipe for raw water transmission pipelines from the intake to the WTP and onward to Dhaka where 14 km of treated water ductile iron pipe over 1,6m dia. will be installed. Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA, the Client) is the implementing agency of the project.

JOB TITLE:
Deputy Resident Engineer – INTAKE location

REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate in Civil /Water Resource Engineering preferably Master’s in Water Supply. Should have seasoned working level engineer specializing in site/resident construction supervision and quality control with preferably 10 years of experience, including ADB/externally financed projects in Asia/Bangladesh. Experience on monitoring will be an advantage on 2 design and build contracts.

TASKS:

  • Responsible for day to day construction supervision and consultant’s site personnel.
  • Establish site inspection procedures, including quality control monitoring and pressure testing, and procedures for correcting substandard works. This includes random audits of contractors’ completed works to confirm quality and quantity.
  • Responsible for reviewing minor changes requested by the contractor. Major changes will be reported to the senior resident engineer.
  • Review and approval of contractor’s progress claims, including recommendations for withholding or other changes.
  • Responsible for maintaining records and overseeing contractors’ as built drawings.

Tentative start of the position: 01 June 2019
