Statistical Analyst

Working title: Statistical Analyst

Schedule (hours/days): 37.5 hours in a week starting from Sunday through Thursday
Location:  Dhaka, Bangladesh

Job Summary                                                                        

Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) is hiring a Statistical Analyst for a USAID-funded integrated health program focused on capacity strengthening and behavior change in four distinct areas: Nutrition, Family Planning, Tuberculosis, and Maternal and Child Health.

As a key member of the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) Program Team, the Statistical Analyst will be responsible for conducting statistical analysis on the data gathered through evaluation surveys and monitoring activities for the project by project team, research agencies, partner organizations, etc. The statistical analysis will include univariate and bivariate analysis of survey data. In addition, the analyst will also have to undertake data management tasks such as “data cleaning”, creating new variables and tracking data quality. The candidate needs to be proficient in a statistical software, preferably STATA. The Statistical Analyst will report to the MEL Advisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The STATISTICAL ANALYST will be primarily responsible for conducting statistical analysis of all types on the data gathered for the project through evaluation surveys, monitoring activities, and other surveys through primary and secondary sources (project team, monitoring team, research agencies, partner organizations and other secondary sources).
  • The STATISTICAL ANALYST will provide input into the PAPI and/or CAPI design for data capture, data structure and organization, and will supervise the research agencies to prepare properly labelled data for descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
  • The STATISTICAL ANALYST will validate the program syntax run by the research agencies for univariate and bivariate analysis and will undertake more sophisticated multivariate analysis in consultation with the MEL Adviser and senior MEL members from JHU-CCP.
  • The STATISTICAL ANALYSIS will conduct all other research and data analysis activities as required for the project, being instructed by the MEL advisor.
  • The STATISTICAL ANALYST will have monitoring responsibilities for the all aspects of the Ujjiban project and will have to routinely track MEL indicators.

Desired qualifications and attributes:

  • The selected candidate must have at least a postgraduate degree in, Statistics/Demography/Mathematics/Computer Applications; an graduate degree in computer science/information technology/electrical/ electronics engineering would be additional qualifications

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Field or Project Organizer, Health Research, Advocacy
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
  • Health research or social research, Development Agency, NGO
  • Any background or work experience in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, TB or nutition will be an additional asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Both males and females are allowed to apply
  • The candidate will be proficient in use of statistical software like SAS, SPSS, STATA, SYSTAT or R, and will have at least 5 years or work experience conducting statistical analysis in a research agency, university, international organization or research institution of repute. Knowledge of GIS software, geo tagging and spatial analysis of health data will be an added advantage.
