Senior Instructor, Developing Midwives Project

James  P  Grant  School  of  Public  Health  (JPGSPH)  at  BRAC  University  was  established  in  2004  as  an  international educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the School is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a center of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice. The James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University has been developing competent and compassionate Midwives to improve the maternal and neonatal health in Bangladesh through the 3 years Diploma course at seven Academic Sites, in partnership with six Non-Government Organizations, with support from the Government of Bangladesh since 2012 under the Developing Midwifery Project, funded by the UK government. We are looking for some Senior Instructor for this project.

Job profile

The main role of this position will be to ensure that the Diploma course is delivered as per the set curriculum, using   the modules and other teaching aids provided. She will closely monitor and observe the quality of teaching by the faculty both at AS and clinical practice site, and support the development of excellent teaching capacity among all faculties in the respective AS.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the faculty in imparting the Diploma course, provide inputs based on observations to faculty development plans;
  • Be the focal point of deployed midwives;
  • Ensure that all activities in the AS follow the academic calendar with quality;
  • Update the modules as required, impart teaching, support the faculty and train them for acquiring both pedagogical and clinical skills;
  • Facilitate the organization of the mentoring sessions; provide inputs to mentors in developing the session plans;
  • Provide on-the-job training and identify needs for skills/capacity building in individual faculty members;
  • Ensure that practical training in the practical training sites takes place as planned and students have the scope to practice as per their lesson plans;
  • Support students through faculty to overcome individual crises; arrange special support to students with special needs;
  • Carry out other activities as and when assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirement

  • BSc  in Nursing from a reputed Nursing college/ Institute or BSc in Nursing with additional degree in Midwifery;
  • Only female candidates are allowed to apply;
  • Ability to organize work, & set priorities;
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in any reputed nursing  college/institutions;
  • Capable of  undertaking frequent field visits;
  • Good command of English;
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literacy is essential.
